The Company:
Our Client is a global Exploration & Production company focused on the increase of production and reserves, the geographic diversification of activity with increased presence in OECD countries, operational excellence and maximising the profitability of assets.

The Role:
To be responsible for, and manage all operational drilling activities for specific wells, projects and drilling units as assigned by the Drilling manager. The Drilling Superintendent will work cooperatively with the Drilling Engineering Team Leader and the Drilling Manager to deliver and further optimize all areas of drilling and related project management.

During the planning phase:

1. Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with Corporate and local HSE requirements.
2. Ensure that all long lead tangible items are ordered and procured in a timely manner to meet project schedules.
3. Ensure that all third party services are tendered and awarded in good time before the start of operations.
4. Review technical tender evaluations made by the well engineering team. When required, conduct technical evaluations of third party services and drilling service contracts.
5. Review and analyze well time and cost estimation supporting ETL for the generation of AFE’s.
6. Work with the Drilling Contractors and the Project Teams to ensure all Safety, Environmental and Rig Operational issues are dealt with in a timely and effective manner.
7. Give support to ETL in order to organize and participate to DWOP in a timely manner and ensure that all agreed outcomes are followed up.

During the operational phase

1. Be accountable for the delivery of the well objectives in a safe and cost on time, within budget and in all cases meeting, if not bettering the Company HS&E targets. Accountability for drilling performance as measured AFE vs actual costs, HSE performance, drilling performance and continuous improvement.
2. Manage the drilling operation on a day-to-day basis within the guidelines of the Company Drilling Policy, following all operational procedures described in the Drilling Program.
3. Conduct the morning call to the rig to discuss safety performance, the days planned activities, the conditions encountered in the well and revisions to the well design or well program and procedures that may result.
4. Ensure accurate and timely dissemination of operational and cost information internally and to partners as required.
5. Manage the commercial aspects of the drilling operations, reporting costs to management as required.
6. Lead the Operations Team acting as the onshore focal point for the offshore well-site personnel.
7. Ensure that the lessons learned from the operation are documented and disseminated as appropriate. Performance evaluation and effectiveness. Prepare recommendations for senior management regarding improvements and cost savings within the scope of the operation
8. Make continuous efforts to improve drilling performance by well-researched applications of new tools and techniques.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
More than 15 years experience as Drilling Supervisor and Superintendent.
Last 8+ years experience in Deep water drilling operations.
Proven experience in VI generation drilling ships.
A thorough understanding of well planning including a good understanding, offset well and log information, identification of drilling hazards and environmental requirements, Casing designs, cementing, bits, mud systems, directional drilling, Safety and environmental knowledge.
Exposure to start-up operations.
Candidate should hold current Well Control (IWCF Well Control Certificate) and Offshore minimum training requirements (BOSIET, MIST etc)

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Operational experience in West Africa would be a positive.
