The Role:
•The position of Senior Geologist is Houston based, and reports to the G&G Team Lead, GOM Production. The incumbent will be responsible for geologic evaluation of projects managed by the GOM Production team.
•This role presents an opportunity to join a successful subsurface team within the Global Production BU. The individual will contribute to value creation through work on a variety of producing assets.
•This position has the responsibility to provide the Production team with accurate geological analysis and modeling of the subsurface. Depending on the project, this will be achieved through direct application of the latest interpretation and analysis techniques, through collaboration with asset subsurface teams, and by effectively influencing joint venture partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Analysis and integration of subsurface geological data necessary to accurately assess the in-place reserves and resource potential within the GOM Production portfolio. This includes deterministic structure, net sand and net pay mapping; log analysis, generation of geologic cross-sections, and supporting any additional studies necessary to the development of comprehensive field evaluations.
•Well planning and handling geologic operations while drilling. This includes assisting the planning and coordination of logging programs, geological prognoses, daily reporting, and post well evaluation and reporting.
•Developing a sound understanding of the geological uncertainties of GOM fields, and contributing to a technical work program aimed at reducing these uncertainties.
•Contribution to the subsurface team's understanding of the reservoirs within the GOM Production portfolio. This will include the analysis and integration of a variety of elements including structure and reservoir (core description, facies definition, reservoir properties).
•Work with the subsurface team to support building and maintaining static subsurface models, and fully documenting all work completed.
•Continued refinement and updating of the models as necessary.
•Collaboration with the reservoir engineers to transition the models into accurate reservoir simulation models.
•Monitoring and assessing new technology and ideas, and collaborating with EPT group to assure superior technology application to the modeling process.
•Integration of new well data and results into updated maps and reservoir models with an understanding of the implications for reserve or resource estimates.
•Joint delivery of field development plans (FDPs) with subsurface team members, and providing geological input for any necessary regulatory documents.
•Data management, quality control and assurance within areas of responsibility.
•Effective presentation of results and recommendations to management and partners.
•Mentoring early career geologists and working with them to advance their geologic skills and capabilities.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Understanding of deepwater clastics depositional processes.
•Working knowledge of extensional structural systems and salt tectonics.
•Familiarity with basin reconstruction is a plus, but not required.
•Sound geological interpretation and analytical skills, sufficient to support construction of geological models that effectively characterize the reservoir and define the reserves distribution accurately.
•Basic understanding of 3D static earth modeling and ability to work with a multi-disciplined team to develop such models.
•Good presenter who is confident in representing the team and the company at internal and external technical and operational meetings.
•Familiarity with seismic interpretation, geostatistical analyses and applications in geomodeling would be a plus but not required.
•Minimum of 10 years production or exploration Geological experience, with at least 5 years focus on Gulf of Mexico
•B.S. in Geology/Geophysics or related field, M.S. preferred
