DEPUTY FABRICATION MANAGER – ULSAN, SOUTH KOREA - $$ ATTRACTIVE – 1 YEAR CONTRACT - LONG TERM PROJECT

1. POSITION OBJECTIVE AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Fabrication Manager in the implementation of the Gorgon Module fabrication and schedule objectives whilst maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Ensure that the Contractor’s Construction and Engineering, procedures and activities are prepared and conducted expediently, to an acceptable standard and in accordance with the Gorgon procedures. Keep close track of the Contractor’s schedule and progress and provide input and solutions to improvement for the assigned module Group. As a senior member of the site team, foster and maintain the team approach and take an active role in the health safety and welfare of all.


3. MAIN TASKS AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
All of the tasks below pertain to the items associated with a given Group of assigned modules.

• Assist the Fabrication Manager in leading the Fabrication effort for a given Group of modules.
• Stand in for the Fabrication Manager when necessary.
• Take a leading role in the implementation of safety including conducting regular audits and providing reports to the Fabrication Manager and HSE Advisor.
• Execute special task as and when requested by the Fabrication Manager.
• Take a leading role in maintaining the communication between the Fabrication Group Module Superintendents/Discipline Supervisors and HHI Construction Group Discipline Managers.
• Assist the Module Superintendents in their interaction with the various HHI Departments to ensure a smooth flow of information and resolution of issues.
• Promote the facilitation of the daily Completion Meetings and assist the various personnel in ensuring these meetings are productive.
• Assist the Module Superintendents in driving HHI to the Completion of Sub-systems in accordance with the Company’s Commissioning priorities.
• Assist in the preparation of Carry Over Work manhour estimates and forecasting of completion dates.
• Establish and maintain a good working relationship with the Contractors personnel and provide positive input to methods and solutions to improve.
• Perform daily walkabouts of the Modules to try to highlight potential issues that could result in impacts to ongoing or upcoming activities.
• Assist the Fabrication Manager maintain consistency amongst the different Module Superintendents.
• Take part in regular, formal meetings with the Contractor at the direction of the Fabrication Manager.
• Assure that the Contractor has adequate systems in place to meet the Project and Quality objectives and to monitor and control all the fabrication and Construction activities of the work.
• Assure that the fabrication and Construction work is performed in a technically competent manner as per the drawings and specifications.
• Constantly check that work being performed is adhering to the Safety, Governmental and Environmental Standards.
• Ensure that checks on the quality and accuracy of the Contractors' craftsmen are carried out.
• Assure that Gorgon and other pertinent Technical Standards are adhered to during all stages of Construction.
• Assure that the Contractor is not being delayed by vendor or Gorgon decisions. To take appropriate follow up action to minimise such delays.
• Conduct daily liaison with Site Team and Contractor and participate in Contractor’s daily and weekly meeting to discuss problems and to provide solutions. Eg.
 Vendors progress, material expediting requirements, setting priorities by criticality.
 Ensure that resources match needs and to minimise delays and cost impacts.
 Job progress being delayed by actions required within the design contractor's office or Company’s procurement group.
 Job planning by Contractor, establishing that the Contractor is planning ahead and allowing realistic lead times to prevent future problems delaying work.
 Identifying present and potential problems, discussing possible solutions, preparing plans of action, assigning responsibilities and defining action to be taken.
• Assure that the Contractor is maintaining and providing machinery and equipment in optimum conditions at all times.
• Report daily to the Fabrication Manager and keep him informed of all activities and status related to Construction and Engineering.
• Provide input to weekly and monthly reports to Project Management.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Mandatory
• Korean offshore fabrication yard experience. Preferably at HHI.
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience in engineering and construction phases of major offshore and modular development projects.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Able to communicate at all levels
• Good organisational skills

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• LNG project experience
• Familiar with Australian code requirements
