The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
CAD Engineer - Foundation Brakes Design CAD engineer. To work within dynamic Foundation Brakes design team creating CAD geometry, bespoke brackets etc for all new Company saloons, sports cars and SUV products. Manage suppliers and ensure designs are compatible with other CoC's prior to release. Lead packaging reviews with relevant Lead Engineers / Group Leader to resolve complex packaging issues. Support lead engineers in releasing newly designed components.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Catia V5 experience essential
- Evidence of team leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of chassis systems
- Comprehensive ability to work with office IT applications and manage large numbers of records in different formats
- Ability to work in fast paced environment with strong communication and team working skills
- Once trained, must be self sufficient and deliver with minimum supervision
- Strong geometric tolerance knowledge essential
- Ability to understand and plan resolution of technical issues
- Responsibility for new component development, fit and function in an automotive environment or closely related industry
- Design experience of castings / fabrications / sheet metal in steel, aluminum and plastic applications
- Higher education qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Ford derived product development processes (e.g. GPDS) is a significant advantage
- Knowledge of APQP, WERS, eFDVS and other Quality Tools is desirable
- Experience of supplier management (or similar) is an advantage
- Engineer complex parts and / or assemblies, with particular consideration to part to part interfaces and relationships
- Work with CAD/non-CAD based engineers to extract engineering requirements to incorporate in CAD design
- Experience of the mechanical design of Brakes components
- Experience of cost reduction in an automotive environment
- 6-sigma Green Belt / Black Belt training
