The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The role primarily involves creation of CAD geometry in support of JLR Virtual Series culminating in the release of engineering drawings to our supplier teams. Post release launch support activities are also required if, for example, modifications are needed. The provision of CAD design support, leading and progressing the design in line with the programme timescales and design 'gateway' deliverables is the core function. The successful candidate will also be working with the 'smarter' CAD toolsets within JLR - collectively known as 'Associated Vehicle Architecure' or 'AVA' and as such should ideally have a knowledge of how component design can be linked via design 'networks' to improve efficiencies and accuracy within the development process. As a minimum a good knowledge of parametric design methodologies within Catia will be a distinct advantage for this role. Using the above techniques the design engineer will ensure published data is up to date and reflects the required levels of maturity at any given point in time. The successful candidiate will also liaise with other areas within Body Engineering, other affected functional areas, the supply base and programme teams, to ensure system compatibility issues are resolved in a timely manner

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Catia v5 is a minimum requirement coupled with a good knowledge of parametric design methodologies.
The AVA approach and methodology can be learnt on commencement of the role.
Previous experience of Cabin Interior Trim component design function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements is ideal although knowledge of other automotive component systems will still be considered.
A successful history as a CAD Designer/Engineer within the automotive sector and the ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to engineering activities - primarily from a design related aspect but also have the communication and organisational skills to be able to enroll the support of related individuals and proactively solve engineering issues.
Ideally degree educated in a related discipline - Automotive or Mechanical Engineering for example, but consideration will be given to an educational background that supports the above role.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Ideally Knowledge of TeamCentre - though training will be given as required.
An appreciation of component design 'linkages' via design networks - to support AVA development.
Ability to work to project timing deliverables and plan the required actions to meet programme 'gateway' requirements.
A working knowledge of project delivery processeses GPDS / FPDS / PPAP.
A working knowledge of change management processes AIMS, WERS, PACN.
The successful candidate should have a valid UK driving licence and meet the medical requirements of the clients facilities
