The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Position Description:
Predominantly working on Air Suspension and ARC systems for current & future vehicles. Packaging of the the components & systems including kinematics is required to support optimum performance whilst also supporting cost effective solutions for future vehicles. Detail drawings for both development components & release drawings will also be required to support delivery of the systems in achieving the required programme milestones. During the packaging of the system components, manufacturing & serviceability aspects must be considered to minimise manufacturing and service repair times/costs. Additionally support will be required on currrent programmes for quality & TVM actions together with occassional support of Passive & eDamping systems including the generation of prototype component drawings as well as release drawings.

Skills Required:
1. Specialist Cad skills with at least 10 yrs extensive experience in both Solid and Surface 3D design and able to produce 2D detailed drawings to given standards.
2. Must be an expert in Catia V5, Teamcentre Tce and Vismockup.
3. Must be fully competent at generating, working within and manipultating packages in both Catia and Vismockup, demonstrating full knowledge of design, interrogation and clash detection.
4. Must be proficient in creating and working with KINEMATIC assemblies.
5. Lead in supporting stress, performance and tolerance calculations relating to current and future designs.
6. Be able to undertake full cradle to grave design/release responsibility for components.
7. Be converse with ALL of the many other required Design and Releasing Programes, Formats and Systems.
8. Must be able to work under own initiative as well as providing CAD support for a cross functional team of Designers, internal / external Engineers and Specialists
9. Must be comfortable Interfacing with Project engineers, Manufacturing teams, Packaging teams, Tier 1+2 suppliers and Toolmakers.

Skills Preferred:
1. Have a good technical understanding of ARC, Air Suspension and/or edamping, or be able to demonstrate that they have a good understanding of similar systems.
2. PC literate (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc)
3. Must have a good rounded knowledge of both mechanical & electrical systems.
4. Must be good at working within a team environment & working with component engineers & vehicle development engineers.
5. Strong organisation and planning skills

Experience Required:
1. Must have Air Suspension or similar system experience
2. Must be competent in dealing with both Mechanical & Electrical systems
3. Must be experience in the use & setting up of instrumentation

Experience Preferred:
Experience of Chassis systems, or extensive Automotive experience having worked supporting both design and manufacturing functions. A working knowledge of component manufacture, tooling requirements and lead times would be a distinct advantage. Be responsible for delivering design solutions to program targets and company standards. A strong track record of delivering design to timing, weight and cost targets. A good disciplined approach to documentation.

Education Required:
Minimum of HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
