The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer and is currently experiencing an upturn in production with demand increasing globally.

The Role:
To provide the expert practical capability to use and to understand in detail the latest developments in CATIA E3D electrical Design package, within the Bentley LCA Design tools and VW VOBES.

Reporting to Senior Engineer Mechanical Integration,
Collaborates closely with other Engineers/Senior Engineers, particularly those who are dependent upon his/her CATIA 3ED expertise.
Liaises with all levels in the business, up to Senior Manager, particularly within the Electrical Functional Managers and Electrical Module leaders.

1. Responsible for developing and maintaining technical knowledge/capability.
2. Developing and generating harness cable routings within the CATIA E3D ENVIRONMENT.
3. In support of the Electrical team generate CAD models of components with E3D attributes.
4. On behalf of Electrical feature owners package components and connect them to cable bundles within E3D and the BENTLEY LCA Structure.
5. Where necessary generate new designs for brackets and other mounting devices, and include in the E3D /VOBES library if required.

1. Accountable for defining and planning own work for approval by Senior Engineer or Functional Manager.
a. Understand in detail the definitions within the E3DEVICE.
b. Create component models and place in car line, Using the Bentley start model.
c. Pack and clean all work in progress models at the end of each working day.
d. Create, modify and maintain E3Ddevice libraries.
e. Design geometrical wire bundles, which includes the placing and integrating of the harness bundle, Routing and generation of internal splices.
f. Ensure designs support the requirements of Design for Manual assembly.
g. Create connector position points.
h. Liaise with Engineers and other customers.
i. Create section cuts.
j. Use clash detection within the LCA environment to ensure that components can package within the LCA design in context.
k. Define the Electrical potential between 2 or more electrical termination points.
l. Package components using Reference Point System techniques to ensure adequate package tolerance stack up.
m. Generate connector shells.
n. Create concept package designs as required and make recommendations to relevant functional areas.
o. Create Electrical Equipments.
p. Surface package models created where required.
q. Generate where required bend radius within the capability limits of the cable, and where required use distributed slack.
r. Create supports, and modify if required.
s. When necessary use FormBoard to generate a 2D image of the 3D harness model.
t. Ensure that E3D/VOBES attributes are attached to all Electrical components.
u. Generate fixing requirements for electrical equipment.
v. Use LCA as the only method of storing /generating models and maturing parts through the release process.
w. Support the release of arts within the various release processes.
x. Be capable of importing models from the Volkswagen KVS system into the LCA environment.
y. Support the feature teams in maintaining part and model attributes and executing the part release.
z. Respond to any reasonable request made.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
HNC in Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Or equivalent
