The Role:

As a Design Engineer (Mechanical) you will be involved in the design, development and technical support of tension products.

As a Design Engineer (Mechanical) your main duties will involve:

• Technical support to sales & proposals personnel, service personnel, manufacturing & purchasing.
• Assisting other internal engineering teams with best practice solutions.
• Customer application evaluation
• Recommendation / confirmation of product being requested or offered.
• Cost efficient and safe design and development of the full range of tensioner products (Pro Engineer, ExpertCad, FEA)
• Close liaison with proposals and sales teams to ensure specifications and customer requirements are fully met, from initial enquiry to commission.
• Carrying out design calculations to satisfy all aspects of design integrity in compliance with company design procedures and external design codes.
• Produce design drawings and detailed manufacturing drawings utilising 3D CAD.
• Compile the necessary technical documentation to fulfill contractual requirements, quality procedures and statutory product related directives, e.g. CE marking, etc.
• Business system part numbers and product structure creation and maintenance.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will have experience:

• Degree/HNC in mechanical engineering or suitable Engineering qualification with relevant experience in a similar position.
• Proficient in using Pro-Engineer 3D computer aided design would be an advantage.
• Working knowledge of ExpertCad 2D computer aided design preferred but not essential.
• Working knowledge of Structural Analysis using first principles and FEA packages (Pro-Mechanica / Ansys) would be a bonus.
• Experience of designing tensioner products would be ideal but not essential
