The Role:
Develop and guide operational team(s) to use the advanced technology facility and the use of its equipment for development teams to maximise the benefit to program timing(s). Support teams with data quality actions and supporting tools. Create a testing portfolio for the Laboratory using advance test automation tools. Maximise the synergies from equivalent internal testing facilities to deliver efficiencies and technical improvements to the test facility. Study, design, investigation, specification and delivery of internal testing technology enhancements to deliver test facility and output efficiencies whilst satisfying Health & Safety legal and best practice levels requirements. Liaise with internal and external supporting services, refrigeration plant, emissions equipment, and dynamometer hardware & software. Work with equipment suppliers, sales and technical personnel to investigate and evaluate alternative test equipment and provide reports to management with recommendations for future direction. Work with suppliers to investigate systems and agree specifications, timing and cost. ¿ Lead Test Technicians and Prototype mechanics in technical issues arising with test equipment, processes and procedures, assist in first line issue resolutions where required. Use testing knowledge to improve / create test methodologies and overall equipment effectiveness. Create and develop local procedures for advanced technologies Support facility operational requirements within the Laboratory.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Relevant experience in the operation of AVL Puma, emission measurement and appreciation of test bed system(s) and sub-system(s). Relevant experience in test bed automation and tool sets such as AVL Cameo. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Computer Programming Skills. The successful applicants must be able to demonstrate initiative, an aptitude for problem solving and have strong team skills. The ability to undertake technical liaison with a range of engineering areas will necessitate strong interpersonal skills. Prior and proven experience in operational test engineer role on Puma engine test beds and test equipment. Engine test experience. HND / Degree in Automotive Engineering. Engineering degree, with more than two years relevant product or engineering experience, not including sandwich courses or business placements. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Computer Programming Skills would be an advantage.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, strong communication skills.
