The Company:
A progressive company offering machine tool support and development services, primarily to the precision engineering and aerospace sectors. The company provides design and manufacture for high precision automated systems, maintenance/servicing, machine audit, troubleshooting and R&D support services, and have a team of highly experienced engineers and project managers. Their client base consists of 1st tier engineering companies within the Aerospace, Nuclear, Motorsport and Medical sectors.


The Role:
Working closely with experts from the University of Huddersfield and using the acclaimed KTP scheme (see www.ktponline.org.uk) the company are embarking on a project to develop and implement a new machine tool thermal error assessment capability. This will involve developing an in-depth understanding of machine tool measurement technologies and how they can be used to understand the thermal behaviour of complex mechanical systems. The successful applicant will then help to use this knowledge to make significant changes to existing working practices within the company and to assist their clients.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
With a minimum 1st or 2:1 honours degree (and/or postgraduate qualification) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, you will need to be a motivated self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of data collection and analysis techniques and proficient use of Microsoft Office packages is essential, and some knowledge/experience of precision engineering or machine tools would be an advantage.
