The Role:
This position is responsible for the generation of robust and consistent development scenarios for exploration prospects and commercial opportunities identified within the client's business.
The Development Engineer for New Business will be responsible for generation of cost and schedule estimates in support of these scenarios which, will be used as the basis for progression to later development stages.

Key Accountabilities
The key accountability of this role is to generate robust and consistent development concepts in support of identified exploration and commercial opportunities. It will require close integration with other functions such as Subsurface and Well Engineering.

The information provided by the Development Engineer forms the basis of key growth decisions and will support future investment within the client's asset. The activites will primarily be in the Create phase however may at times be relevant to the Assess or Select stages.

The Development Engineer will:
Use his/her knowledge and application of best practice to generate feasible development options for given opportunities, with due consideration to HSSE, commercial and operational constraints
Generate/deliver cost and schedule estimates in support of development concepts
Evaluate potential for employment of new technology in the development
Coordinate and collate information and data from other disciplines, such as reservoir profiles and well engineering data, to enable economic evaluation to be carried out.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure the application of all relevant Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies.
Ensure concepts proposed achieved the required amount of compliance with the client's Value Assurance process as necessary for the relevant approval being requested.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
An engineer with significant experience in the upstream and downstream oil and gas industry, preferably globally.

A professional with good subsurface, well engineering and commercial awareness and understanding
As a leader, able to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams outside of direct line management.
Experience of working with joint venture partners.
Able to demonstrate a high level of commitment to HSSE

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
A relevant engineering degree; chartered engineer or equivalent status would be an advantage.
Good business awareness.
Good awareness of new technology and its applicability to new oil and gas developments
Knowledge of Subsurface and Well Engineering functions
Proven skills in integration of multi-discipline teams, planning, and ommunication (oral and written)
Experience in the use of cost estimating and planning tools would be an advantage
The ability to work independently to strict and tight deadlines.
A collaborative and adaptive working style
The ability to build and maintain business relationships both internally and externally
Experience in the application of the client functional assurance processes
