Our client

We are looking to recruit a Development Geologist to join the Exploration and New Business Department.

The Role:
Key Objectives of the Job
• Analysis of geological and related data to support development projects
• Preparation of geological reports, maps, and Petrel models for development planning and simulation activities
• Quantification of input parameters for deterministic and probabilistic volumetrics calculations, including assessment of uncertainty ranges
• Geological evaluation of development new business opportunities

Main Responsibilities
• Planning of all geological activities within area of responsibility
• Preparation of geological well planning material for operated wells
• Management of incoming geological information from other operators (particularly related to drilling wells)
• Evaluation of geological data from wells, reports, projects
• Building of Petrel models for input to simulation studies
• Preparation of geological reports
• Production of regional, prospect-specific and field-related geological maps
• Selection and supervision of geological consultants
• Representation of company in meetings with partners, authorities, other company offices
• Liaison with other disciplines involved in development projects e.g geophysicist, reservoir engineer, petrophysicist
• Preparation of geological input to Resource Report
• Technical mentorship of junior staff

Safety Critical Responsibilities and specific HS&E Responsibilities

• During well planning and implementation, Senior Geologist will liaise with HSEQ Manager and Drilling Manager to ensure that geological and formation evaluation operations can be conducted in an efficient and safe manner within the drilling operations.
• Identification of possible geological hazards to drilling operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervision of geological consultants/contractors

Competence Standards

It’s essential that the candidate is technically oriented and has the ability to work unsupervised and produce work to a high professional standard. They will require good communication skills as well as the adaptability in learning to utilise new evaluation techniques where required.

There should be wide range of structural and stratigraphic geological knowledge, set in regional context. The ability to use software for log correlation, mapping, facies modelling software as well as MS Office is essential.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Ideally you will have at least 5+ years as a development Geologist in and operating company
Significant exposure to related geoscience and petroleum engineering disciplines
Wide range of geological experience – exploration, development, production, operations
The candidate would have a degree in Geology

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
A MSc or PhD in Geoscience or Petroleum Engineering would be preferred but not essential
