The Role:
This position supports our client's develoment in Uganda. The position will be based in West London. Some travel will be required to Uganda.

The Uganda subsurface team is moving from a largely exploration and appraisal skill set to a development skill set in preparation for implementation of one of the largest developments that will be done in Africa in the next 10 years. Our client wants to show technical leadership in the development of hard won resources through recruitment of top technical talent. They are currently recruiting for a development geophysicist. The candidate will ideally have 7+ years with a major oil company. Previous experience in onshore developments would be advantageous as would experience in a rift setting. The candidate will be able to demonstrate a focus on detail, excellent quantitative interpretation skills, ability to integrate with other disciplines including geology, reservoir and petroleum engineering, petrophysics etc. A good understanding of how to translate geophysical attributes into useful information for building geologic models is a key required skill.
• Provide high quality geophysical interpretation skills for the Uganda Development Team.
• Provide regular updates / interpretations for ongoing wells.
• Undertake geophysical studies, evaluation and QC as required, and interface with external contractors as required.
• Play a role in ongoing & future field development / infill planning studies.
• Provide mentorship and training to graduate geophysicists and others necessary.
• Provide geophysical support in well interpretation / drilling / perforation as required.
• Quality control / review project proposals within and potentially beyond the Uganda development team.
• Provide technical assistance to other teams, and participate in development projects as required.
• Provide technical assistance in reservoir volumetric assessment and undertake mapping studies, as required.
• Provide geophysical input into reserves reporting and auditing
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• A higher degree (masters or PhD) in geology / geophysics is essential
• Experience: 7+ years experience in industry with strong background in development geophysics.
• Skills: Excellent technical computer skills are required. Experience with Petrel, SMT, RocDoc preferred. Excellent knowledge of geophysical attributes, working knowledge of rock properties required.
• Language: Fluency of written and spoken English is required.

• Self-starting, ability to work with multiple groups.
• Technically and commercially credible, open and honest.
