The Company:
Our client is a global, diversified, upstream oil and gas company.

The Role:
Position Overview and Responsibilities:

• Reports to the VP UK Projects for successful delivery of the development
• Lead Development Team for development planning, budget and execution
• Function as the single point of accountability for meeting development and business objectives
• Manage the overall AFE budget and schedule

Team Leadership
• Provide vision, leadership, and direction to the Development Team, actively supporting work efforts, assuring effective integration of all discipline plans, and creating an environment of effective teamwork
• Lead implementation of opportunity evaluation, project planning, and development activities that generate risk-managed, technically and commercially sound development recommendations to the Gatekeeper and Business Sponsor.
• Work closely with the Business Sponsor to assure continual alignment of project objectives with business objectives and alignment of activities with the Company Project Delivery System (PDS)
• Manage communications with the Business Sponsor, functional managers, Development Team leads, Gate Readiness Team, and Corporate PDS coordinator
• Lead development of stage plans to create deliverables and development of critical integrated plans/reviews.
• Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, including issue resolution as required

Performance Monitoring and Reporting
• Implement an effective Performance Management and Reporting System for all scopes of work
• Monitor, assess, and take action as required to achieve project objectives
• Hold regular project team meetings to measure performance and take corrective action as required
• Hold regular steering committee meetings and manage monthly project scorecard

Governance in the Project Delivery
• Assure the Development Team has planned and executed effectively to meet Gate requirements
• Work with the Business Sponsor and Gate Readiness Team Leader to coordinate Gate Readiness Reviews
• Work with the Business Sponsor to plan and implement the Gate Reviews
• Develop and present the Decision Support Package at Gate Readiness and Gate Reviews

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Minimum qualifications are an engineering degree and membership of professional engineering institution.

• Extremely strong leadership ability, combined with a collaborative work style will be required. The success of this role depends on the incumbent’s ability to build strong and lasting relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders within the company, contractors and sub contractors, Regulators, Co-venturers, as well as the wider industry. Critical to success will be the need to provide practical support and intervention whilst combining leadership with strong coaching, mentoring and functional guidance. The role provides leadership for an already established and strong team, which has been built up over a number of years.
