The Role:

The Development Planner provides Development Planning support to the various on- and offshore Shell projects and opportunities in the Americas varying from Alaska, Canada, USA and the entire South American continent.
Development Planning supports a number of themes: Deepwater, Exploration, Heavy Oil, Onshore gas, Producing Assets as well as some direct support to new business development initiated opportunities. The Development Planner will have the opportunity to be actively involved in a number of maturation projects, primarily in the early stages of the EP funnel varying from defining which opportunities to target in a (pre-) lease sale, identifying the preferred concept for the development thru the Field Development Plan or coordinating the Concept Selection Report.



As a member of the Development Planning team, the individual will contribute to or coordinate strategy studies, Exploration opportunity evaluation, urban planning studies, integrated feasibility studies, scenario planning studies, scenario evaluation studies, and concept screening studies. As the development planner fulfills primarily the role of a consultant to the asset/business the accountability for the project remains with the asset/business.

Responsibilities:
* Key information channel to the business opportunity manager/project manager and other functional managers on activity planning, ranking and project maturation status
* Helps construct and provide quantitative analysis of development scenarios for Exploration and Early development projects.
* Key provider of performance analysis of capex and well activities
Key interfaces:

* Well Engineering (drilling sequences, well management)
* Project Engineering (Project maturation, project capex)
* Corporate Economics (Screening criteria, deferral economics)
* Assets (Data flow from the assets to roll up, steer to the assets on type of data, systems, processes etc.)
* Exploration (shared resources for execution of activities)
* Commercial (commercial portfolio of activities alignment with asset strategy and functional resource base)
* Acquisition and Divestment (alignment of A&D portfolio with activity programmes)

The individual will become very familiar with all aspects of development and other opportunities in order to assist customers. In addition to technical skills, strong liaison abilities are required when trying to understand and transfer knowledge across the various opportunities and projects. The ability to understand both subsurface and engineering challenges/skills in a complex organizational and project environment is considered beneficial. This requires the ability to think “scenarios first” and “concepts second”.
