The Company:
Our Client is a large Automotive and Commercial Vehicle OEM, with a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering on a contract basis. These opportunities are typically based in their research and development facility located in Dunton which is the largest automotive technical centre in the United Kingdom.

The Role:
Position Description:
Diesel After treatment Calibration Engineer To lead the Diesel SCR/LNT/DPF manager feature calibration development of a power pack or lead a specific part of this work for multiple applications. To support Application Calibration teams. For the regeneration modes of operation (which means DeNOx, DeSOx and DPF regeneration) support the Fuel / Air Set point Team in the delivery of the required AT calibrations including the following responsibilities:-
- The specification of DPF/LNT related hardware, controls, sensors, actuators and strategy for high pressure common rail Diesel engines to meet all performance and economy objectives (all engine and vehicle level performance objectives apply in regeneration modes).
- Lead HW subsystem acceptance testing prior to commencement of calibration work (including FIE and other rig based work).
- Guide and support the development of engine set point calibration on dyno. to meet all commodity objectives for regeneration & rich modes.
- Lead calibration work to provide transient performance to program target (dyno and vehicle) for AT specific modes and transitions. Demonstrate vehicle drive cycle regeneration capability on dyno, in facility and on the track for AT specific modes and transitions.
- Meet combustion noise, stability and other vehicle cascaded requirements to ensure outstanding driveability, performance, refinement and conformity for AT specific modes and transitions. - -- Calibrate on dyno and in vehicle for environmental conditions including hot, cold and high altitude regeneration modes.
- To lead power-train problem identification and resolution, coordinate calibration communisation, processes and procedures.
- To carry out and coordinate all regeneration mode testing required to complete calibration DVP and document results.
- To support the vehicle lead calibration engineer in the execution of his duties.

Skills Required:
Specialist knowledge, skills and experience include:- Diesel combustion, calibration and optimisation methodologies, control and rich mode calibration and transition. Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of LNT and SCR systems and the scheduling and control of these.

Experience Required:
Demonstrable hands on experience in some aspects of Diesel AT calibration and clear understanding of those elements in which there is no direct experience

Experience Preferred:
With calibration of LPEGR. In calibration to meet RDE emissions. In offline modelling and optimisation.

Education Required:
Educated to Degree in relevant engineering /science.

Education Preferred:
Higher than degree qualification in relevant field.

Additional Information :
Travel will be required on occasion where development work is required at other Ford facility and for the cold, hot and altitude development trips. Occasional travel may be needed for business meetings. Applicant should be able to travel freely within the EU.
