The Company:
Our Client is a large Automotive and Commercial Vehicle OEM, with a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering on a contract basis. These opportunities are typically based in their research and development facility located in Dunton which is the largest automotive technical centre in the United Kingdom.

The Role:
Diesel Engine Performance Development Engineer
- Undertake Dyno based hardware development activities to deliver engine attributes - performance & cost.
- Support development of Performance & Economy targets for a specific engine family covering multiple vehicle applications.
- Management of daily dyno plan for hardware development.
- Issue technical reports & program status documentation for all hardware evaluation and key program decisions.
- Support technical reviews at key gateways as per relevant program or PT Timing Plan.
- Release of calibrations and troubleshooting support for other rig users & engine DV/PV plants as needed.
- Liaison with hardware suppliers/plant/calibration teams as required.

Skills Required:
- Knowledge of diesel combustion system, ability to evaluate and analyse key attributes and calibrate/ optimise engine hardware accordingly.
- Experience of Diesel engine test-bed work
- Steady state and dynamic and cold facility running.
- Understanding of Legal emissions standards and how they cascade to a set of engine level attribute targets.
- Proven track record in delivering projects on time and with quality.
- Program management skills.

Skills Preferred:
Working knowledge of calibration and testing tools - ATI, AVL Puma, MBC Toolbox and Concerto preferred. Experience of Matlab would also be useful.

Experience Required:
Dyno-based Diesel engine hardware development,
Experience of development of Diesel performance related hardware ¿ Turbochargers, EGR systems, FIE, Combustion systems and the sensitivity of those components to engine performance.

Education Required:
Minimum of 2:2 degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics
Education Preferred:
Additional Information :
Full UK Driving License ¿ valid for duration of contract.
