The Company:
Our Client is a major oil and gas operator who has operations throughout the world. This role will be working within the Safety & Operational Risk arm of my client's business. My client offer a technically challenging environment working for one of the leaders in the oil and gas industry.

The Role:
The Safety and Operational Risk Audit Team identifies gaps in implementation of safety and operational standards to help create the understanding and management of group safety and operational risk.

Based at home this role will involve 50% travel around the world leading and conducting audits of all types of facilities and all company departments and business units. You will need to be able to influence and challenge at the highest level within the entity being audited, using appropriate judgement, experience and communication techniques to ensure clear understanding and acceptance of findings and the actions needed to address these findings.

The Audit Director will manage and support a number of auditor direct reports and act as part of the S&OR Audit Extended Leadership Team (ELT).

You will be responsible for recruiting, coaching, mentoring and developing auditors in your teams and overseeing their individual and team development within the organisation. You will leave a lasting legacy for future safety and operations of this global company.

During audits you will; analyse evidence, identify gaps and develop findings and corrective actions, supported by suitable evidence in your defined technical field.

Having worked in a senior management position before the Director of Audit will have previous experience of auditing all types of systems and facilities and will be comfortable with managing the full process of audit across regions and / or groups of large companies with a global reach. You will be from either a projects, process safety or contracts background. It is essential that you are comfortable with affecting change at the highest level of an organisation and will have experience of reporting to major stake holders and Vice Presidents and CEOs. Excellent communication skills are a must for this role as is a high standard of English language, both written and spoken. Operations experience is also essential and you will preferably be from a high hazard industry.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree and/or professional qualification in relevant operationally focused discipline and substantial hands on operational experience in a major hazard environment.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Significant relevant post qualification/after degree experience.
• Proven leadership experience in an HSSE, operational, engineering, project or maintenance role in a major hazard environment.
• Strong background in one or more of the following:- HSSE, Operations, Electrical/Instrument/Mechanical/Marine/Chemical Engineering, projects, or process safety.
