Our Client provides oilfield products, systems and services for customers in the oil and gas industry world-wide. They apply the knowledge and create and use technologies that deliver their customers' solutions.

The Role:
Our client is looking for a Discipline Manager in their Embedded Electronics Group. Currently the size of the embedded electronics group is more than a dozen engineers, working with design, verification & qualification of electronic assemblies both for internal product development projects but also for delivery projects. Most of the engineers are located in Aberdeen but our client also have a small number located in Oslo. The discipline manger will be located in Aberdeen, but travel to Oslo on a regular basis will be required.

As a manager for the embedded electronics discipline you are responsible for:
• Manage the embedded electronics discipline group within the ESD group in Controls R&D.
• Ensure appropriate capacity and competence within the embedded electronics discipline.
• Define development processes for the embedded electronics discipline in compliance with required industry and client standards.
• Translate high level product requirements into detailed requirements, specifications and designs.
• Ensure product designs are of highest quality and reliability, compliant with detailed requirements and fit with applicable product architectures.
• Manage lab facilities and activities relevant to discipline ensuring sufficient equipment and tools are available to support development and validation activities.
• Maintain standard product design libraries ensuring re-use of proven design components in more complex products wherever possible.
• Develop and maintain test suites and environments for testing deliverables from the embedded electronics discipline group ensuring tests have adequate coverage of functionality and are repeatable for future releases.
• Manage single discipline work-scopes.
• Provision for appropriate level of support activities within discipline.
• Ensure safety, quality and reliability are addressed as a the main priorities in design.
• Keep up to date with current technologies in related markets ensuring the most appropriate technologies are used in current designs.
• Monitor material libraries for obsolescence.
• Protect the company IP in designs and avoid infringement of third party IP.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• MSc or PhD in electronics engineering.
• Extensive experience with electronics development.
• Experience with managing people within teams or as a discipline/line manager.
• Experience from the subsea technology area is highly valued but not a fixed requirement.
