The Role:
Due to an increase in workload our client now has a requirement for a Draughtsman with strong Mechanical background to survey and update P&IDs to reflect the current as-built installed plant on site and to determine and accurately record critical design information for plant items and equipment such as vessels, pumps, instrumentation, tracing, line sizing & MOC etc.

Primary Responsibilities – tasks will include but not be limited to the following:
• On plant surveying of plant & process/service lines to determine as built status.
• Determination of line sizes and materials of construction for inclusion on the P&IDs.
• Determination of information either from nameplates, research or manufacturer’s information for the plant item design/operating parameters e.g. tank dimensions, pump flow rates, instrument types, heat tracing details, pressure and temperature ratings etc.
• Working with the control and instrumentation team, determine trips, interlocks and control parameters for inclusion on P&IDs.
• Markup and subsequent CAD drawing/updates of all P&IDs.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• With a mechanical bias, qualified to a minimum of HND level, and have proven experience in the process or petrochemical sector.
• Possess a robust knowledge of AutoCAD (2002), process plant symbology and plant components.
Be sufficiently knowledgeable and experienced to make an immediate impact within this role with minimal supervision.
• Be able to work in a self sufficient manner, drawing upon and managing specialist resources from Engineering, Production and Maintenance to assist where required.
• Able to plan effectively, prioritise intelligently and communicate concisely.
• Able to write accurate, clear and concise English is essential.
• be persistent and meticulous to find all the information required and have sufficient knowledge to query and resolve ambiguous information.
• Possess practical plant knowledge and know what to look for in terms of mechanical items, pipework, instrumentation, tracing type etc.
