The Role:
Job Title Design Manager -
Reporting To Programme Engineering Manager

Perth Office

The Design Manager is responsible for the delivery of all material handling engineering and design services to the Port area projects. The Marine Design Manager is also responsible for providing technical supervision, methods to meet the needs of the Project Execution Plan (PPE), and the overall Programme Procedures Manual (PPM) with reference to the existing procedures, standards and quality control.

Specific Responsibilities

The Design Manager’s responsibilities include assuring that the design can be executed & constructed in the safest, efficient and economic manner.
The Design Manager is primarily responsible for the following activities within the project scope:
• Work processes for the production of marine group deliverables
• Quality of the marine group deliverables
• Timely delivery of all marine group deliverables to the schedules set by each project
• Input data management, including vendor information, surveys and specialist recommendations
• Staff / resource management in conjunction with principle engineers and each of the area lead engineers and lead discipline designers
• Management of required information for procurement of equipment across projects (a specific team for strategic supplier agreements report to the Programme Engineering Manager)
• Ensuring that the marine group understands, aligns, executes and delivers to the programme and each project Baseline, including the contract scope (facilities and services), PEP, schedule, and cost element (capital and services)
• Participation in the identification of programme / project risks and mitigation strategies
• Proactive promotion and application of the programme change management process

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Tertiary engineering qualifications & previous experience on EPCM Projects
Experience with engineering and design of marine facilities

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Exposure to aspects project management
Superior planning skills
Experience with construction of marine facilities
Advanced general / basic software skills
