Our Client is a global Energy Leader with a strong commitment to Honest and Ethical Business Practices within the Oil and Gas Industry. Our Client operates as an independent energy company. It has four segments: Oil and Gas, Syncrude, Energy Marketing, and Chemicals. The Oil and Gas segment explores, develops, and produces crude oil, natural gas, and related products.

The Role:
Responsible for supporting the Drilling Operations - Accounting Lead in the provision of financial support to the Drilling & Completion Operations Team and for ensuring a financially controlled environment governing all drilling related costs.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Safety - Conducts all activities in a safe and effective manner and raises safety and environmental issues immediately and in line with corporate policy

Continuous Improvement & Innovation - Continuously develops ways of working by seeking feedback from colleagues and key stakeholders. Complies with company project management disciplines, effectively utilises knowledge databases and actively participates in project reviews

•Capability Development - Looks for opportunities to develop technical and personal skills both by formal learning interventions and work experience. Coaches team colleagues where appropriate and demonstrates a personal commitment to lifelong learning

•People Processes - Engages with people processes in a positive and timely manner. Demonstrates a commitment to the spirit of such processes

•Technical/Functional - Production of forecast financial data required to support the creation of AFEs and budgets for drilling activity, in coordination with the operational individuals linked to the area of activity. Monitoring and management of AFEs, to include revisions and timely closure.

Creation and operation of a detailed cost tracking model to calculate the value of work done for drilling activities. Monitoring of actual expenditure against POs and contracts, and prompting timely revision of limits as required.

Responsible for ensuring that the financial ledger reflects the current status of well costs incurred, through theaccurate and timely booking of Service Entries and accruals. Liaison with Operations accounting and Payables colleagues in Aberdeen & Uxbridge to ensure ledger and billings accurately reflect drilling activities.

Timely completion of well reviews and reconciliations between the ledger and drilling reports. Supoort of internal and partner audits of well programs.

Support for providing effective communication to drilling management of the financial indicators inherent in any reports produced, and for addressing progress against key performance indicators.

Ensure Approvers Authority Matrix is adhered to in sphere of activity, and that the company Controls environment is followed, in coordination with the Internal Controls Advisor.

Assist in the completion of the documentation of accounting procedures that enable Finance to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Liaison with other departments to ensure a thorough understanding of the business processes as they relate to area of responsibility. Develop strong working relationship with all members of the drilling team, representing financial matters in this area.

Participate in Budget preparation for D&C activites.

Support the ongoing development of the SAP system, specifically in relation to issues affecting area of responsibility.

Identify areas for improvement and concern.

Performs other duties, completes additional tasks and supports ad hoc projects as required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualified or studying towards accountancy qualification preferable.
General accounting background in the oil industry.

Experience of accounting for drilling operations and well reconciliations preferable.
Good communication skills (both interpersonal and written).
Excellent systems skills.
Demonstrates good use of initiative.
Self-confident, approachable, flexible and independent attitude.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
SAP experience preferable.
