The Company:
With interests in over 20 UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) fields, my Client has one of the most significant exploration and production businesses in the offshore waters of the UK.

The Role:
The Europe E&P Finance organisation consists of six teams – all reporting to the Vice President - Finance.

The Drilling Accounting Manager will manage a team of Drilling Accountants and will be responsible for delivery of cost accounting and reporting for UK and Norway operated wells. The team’s key business partner is Well Engineering, although there is also an interface with Project teams and the wider Finance team to ensure a quality service and an accurate forecast basis for License and Group Budget updates.

Incumbent will manage the proactive provision of cost control support to Well Engineering teams in UK and Norway and ensure Europe E&P is best in class for cost control management of Operated well expenditure on behalf of the licences we operate.

Key Accountabilities:

Manage Drilling Accountants who are primary point of contacts for operated well costs, drilling accounting and cost tracking.
Manage finance review of well cost estimates prior to AFE issue. Ensure a rigorous review process is embedded in the process and maximise use of systems.
Work with C&P to ensure the supply chain is optimised with respect to timely raising of Purchase orders and managing commitments
Implement a common well cost tracker across all Europe E&P operated wells, ensuring Europe E&P is best in class and processes are standardised and transferable.
Manage the reporting and communication of weekly forecasting of well costs, ensuring a standardised and consistent approach across Europe E&P.
Oversee month end process for operated wells
Review of well reconciliations prepared by Drilling Accountants and ensure compliance with local JV rules and Company FCA controls
Develop standard set of documents for operated licence audits wher
Drilling capex is in scope, ensuring Company is represented professionally
Coach and actively develop direct reports building expertise for the future.
Develop the Europe E&P drilling accountant model as a Group benchmark and a model of excellence.
Management of drilling inventory.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
People management experience
Understanding of JOA’s and Supply Chain.
Experience in managing a Drilling Accounting or Planning / Accounting team
Technical understanding of drilling operations.
Coaching and supervisory experience.
Strong finance background
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
Knowledge of oil and gas accounting and technical accounting background advantage.
SAP experience.
Advanced Excel and presentational skills
Confident and focused.
Critical for the success of this role is the individual’s overall style; leveraging own style to have maximum effect.

Good communication skills and ability to work cross culturally with all groups within the organisation.
High attention to detail and accuracy and strong analytical skills.
