Our Client is an independent Australian oil and gas company with a global presence playing a key role in supplying energy to our region.They are one of the worlds leading producers of liquefied natural gas, helping meet the demands for cleaner energy from Japan, China, Korea and other countries in the Asia Pacific region.

The Role:
An opportunity has arisen for a Drilling Accountant to join a leading Oil and Gas Operator on contractual basis. Previous experience within Drilling and Completions is an essential required for this role. This role is based within the Drilling & Completions Finance team which is responsible for the accounting aspects of drilling activity throughout the E&P lifecycle. The incumbent should provide insights that drive efficient resource allocation while also striving to develop sustainable Accounting processes that meet the drilling management needs.

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

•Month End Reporting - Advising key customers to ensure they maintain accurate forecasts and budgets
•Review Well cost estimates and maintain cost tracking
•Ensure Well Closeouts adhere to Finance’s KPIs
•Drilling related expenditure in Non-Operator Audits
•Campaign accounts - including creation, allocations and closeouts within a timely manner
•Assisting in Budgeting and Forecasting for D&C
•Corporate assistance for AUC and E&E queries
•Drive improvement in the quality, accuracy and performance of the reporting process within D&C
•Provide BU accounting support
•Reports to Drilling Accounting Team Lead
•Manager Finance Operations
•VP Drillings and Completions and their Direct Reports
•Finance Business Partners & Central Accounting Team
•D&C Engineers
•Contribute to the D&C Finance team to ensure processes are not only adhered to but improved as a matter of course.
•Reconciliation of Well Reviews, including guidance and support to Business Units on the timeliness of successful well closeouts, asset disposals and participation in the audit process.
•Participate in the processes relating to
•Forecasting/Budgeting
•Well Reviews
•Audit – Internal/External
•Cash Calls/EFC
•Month End Reporting
•Material disposals
•Ensure compliance with guidelines, efficient processes and reporting are provided to key stakeholders
•Maintain up to date procedures and work instructions in accordance with the Finance Standard and templates.
•Ensure accounting process supports the accounting principles and procedures. This requires consultation with the BU’s for sale of materials or disposal of scrap to ensure accounting standards and requirements are being met.
•Specific project type work within D&C Finance as requested by Team Lead.
•Contribute to Financial governance process when required.
•Build strong internal relationships towards improving effectiveness of procedures
•Assist in the resolution of Audit (both Internal and External) queries.
•Develop a good understanding of cost/pricing schedules in Rig contracts

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Studying towards a Professional qualification (ACA/CPA) or equivalent.
•Work experience as a professional in finance/accounting, ideally including
•Financial and Joint Venture accounting
•Understanding of financial systems and processes
•Strong SAP/BI/Hyperion system knowledge
•A strong understanding of the Exploration and Production (E&P) lifecycle
•Significant improvement achievements

•IDS (the daily drilling reporting software)

•Master Data creation

•Hyperion (including FinPlan)
