The Company:
Our client, an international operator, is currently looking for a Drilling Engineer with 5 to 10 years experience to support the Wells Team for the Planning Phases of well construction projects.

The Role:
This position is to be based in London, on an initial 6 month contract with possible extensions.

The Drilling Engineer will provide well engineering input and support to the Wells Team Leader (London) for the Planning Phases (APPRAISE CP2, SELECT CP3, DEFINE CP4) of well construction projects.
The role will form an integral part of the Planning Group based in the London office.
Provide technical expertise on drilling engineering to the Operations and Development teams.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
HSE
• Exhibit safe behaviours at all times when on company property and/or on company business
• Comply with all HSEQ policies and standards
• Apply the HSEQ Management System as appropriate to the relevant area of the business
• Comply with Company's Well Design and Operations Management Standards, Statutory Regulations and Industry Guidance Notes.

ENGINEERING
Participate in the well engineering of projects through Appraise, Select and Define workphases prior to handover to the drilling & completions execution team post sanction for all drilling and exploration activities. Specifically;

• Generate and evaluate well conceptual designs to agreed well objectives
• Refine selected well concepts to achieve an executable and AFE level (CP4) costed well design
• Provide input into the AFE sanction process and input to other internal and external approvals
• Develop comparative risk assessments of well concepts during Select workphases
• Prepare Drilling Basis of Design documentation including Casing Design, Torque / Drag, Hydraulics
• Develop functional specifications and scopes of work for equipment and services
• Make continuous effort to improve regional well construction performance
• Prepare and contribute to the company Peer Review process where required


Related activities:

• Participate in technical meetings or Peer Reviews with other regional areas in the company.
• Participate in reviews of the Corporate Well Design and Operations Management Standards documentation.
• Provide general well engineering advice, data room support and cost estimates to the asset teams as requested during pre-project Appraise workphases.
• Provide support to Non-operated assets on drilling topics where required
• Make offshore visits as required
• Provide guidance to the implementation and policies of probabilistic software usage within UK team.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
5-10 years Experience
Degree Qualified
Relevant certificates
Proven Drilling & Completions experience within an offshore environment. Well planning Casing Design , Equipment specification, contracts management.
Offshore experience - jack up and semi sub.
Eligible to work in the UK
