The Company:
Our Client is a Leading Global Operator in the Oil and Gas Industry.

The Role:
The Mechanical Inspector is principally responsible for the mechanical inspection of drilling related packaged equipment purchased out of the project’s London office.
Key duties will include:-
• Carry out mechanical inspections of drilling related packaged equipment to ensure conformance with purchase order, requisition, project specifications and applicable codes and standards and produce inspection reports.
• Ensure that all items subject to the PED and Machinery Directives are CE marked and have been supplied with a Declaration of Conformity and an EC Type Examination Certificate as applicable.
• Ensure that the key mechanical inspection & certification processes required to deliver the drilling equipment as detailed in the approved Quality Management & Assurance Plan and other applicable strategies & procedures are effectively implemented.
• Engage and work effectively with all Contractors & suppliers regarding mechanical inspection & certification matters for the drilling equipment.
• Monitor, assess & report the technical performance of Field Inspectors supplied by inspection agencies and/or main suppliers for drilling equipment.
• Work with the QC Lead to ensure that the required inspection & certification processes are planned for all Contractor mechanical supplied materials/equipment.
• Lead or participate in audits and reviews concerning mechanical inspection & certification for drilling packages where so assigned.
• Advise the QC Lead of all significant quality issues related to drilling equipment as they occur.
• Assist and provide support to Contractors/Suppliers in the resolution of any mechanical quality issues and/or technical queries for drilling equipment.
• Assist the QC Lead in other assurance activities associated with project as directed.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
• Demonstrable track record of performing mechanical inspections of packaged equipment during manufacture for major EU oil and gas projects is essential. It is unlikely that candidates whose inspection experience is only construction sited based will have the required capability.
• Experience of the inspection of drilling equipment during manufacture is highly desirable but not essential.
• Extensive experience working in a senior mechanical inspection role for purchased materials & equipment.
• Extensive experience of supplier installation, inspection, testing & certification activities covering drilling, rotating and static equipment and package piping systems in the oil and gas sector.
• Good report writing skills.

Thorough working knowledge of:-
• Industry mechanical codes/standards e.g. PED, PD5500, ASME BPVC, B31.3 etc.
• Welding, NDE, machinery manufacturing, piping and structural fabrication, coating and insulation quality control requirements.
