The Company:
Our client is a large multi-national organization which explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, gas and sulfur. They pride themselves in conducting operations in accordance with the world–class safety and environmental standards.

The Role:
.Responsible for managing the Business Unit drilling department to meet agreed drilling objectives and to ensure that all operations are conducted in a safe, environmentally acceptable, and efficient manner. The Drilling Manager is also responsible to ensure drilling operations are in compliance with Company and Global Drilling Community policies and standards, and all government regulations.
.Coordinates and communicates with Business Unit General Manager and Leadership Team to plan and execute the appropriate drilling strategy.
.Coordinates with Asset, Exploration, and Operations Managers to plan and execute projects.
.Manages the Drilling Department to ensure drilling projects are designed, planned, and executed optimally.
.Accountable for overall drilling costs, safety, and environmental performance.
.Establishes, along with Drilling Superintendents and Drilling Engineering Supervisors, optimum operational, financial, safety, and environmental performance expectations, measures, and goals for the Drilling Department.
.Ensures that Department processes, procedures, and plans are in-place to facilitate knowledge transfer, maximize efficiency, and minimize mistakes.
.Benchmarks against competition to assess Department performance, identify strengths and weaknesses, and establish goals.
.Encourages and rewards continuous improvement and proper application of technology and best practices.
.Promotes and encourages appropriate risk taking.
.Provides for, along with the Drilling Engineering Supervisor and Drilling Superintendent, personnel development of direct reports through Performance Appraisals and Personal Career Development Plans.
.Develops and executes succession plans for all Departmental supervisory positions to ensure continuity of Group performance.
.Coordinates with the VP Worldwide Drilling, CDG Drilling manager, CDG Resource manager, and other Drilling Managers to optimize the utilization of all Drilling personnel, transfer technology and best practices, and continuously improve global drilling performance.
.Actively participates in and supports the Drilling Managers Network and the participation of subordinates in the other Drilling networks and Communities of Practice.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering discipline
• 15 + years of oil field drilling and Deepwater experience
• Risk Management skills
• Good Project Management skills
• Strong Leadership skills
• Organizational skills
• Teamwork (internal and external) skills
• Analytical and Problem Solving capabilities
• Written and Verbal Communication skills
• Contractor Performance Management skills
