The Company:
Our Client has major operations in the world’s most important oil and gas regions. They are leaders in working in extremely difficult environments such as ultradeep water

The Role:
Our Client currently require a Drilling Operations Engineer to work on Deep Water projects.

The position is on a 28/28 rotation in their China office for at least 12 months.

Duties include:

Assist Planning engineers with outline and detailed well designs for assigned exploration Deepwater wells.
Review Drilling performance curves, detailed time/cost estimates for final well design and preparation of AFE’s for the Company.
From well outlines, develop the detailed operational procedures.
Liaise with subsurface G&G and Planning in all aspects of well design and provide onshore operational support to the Drilling Superintendent during the execution phase of projects.
Provide technical input for all required contracts following the D&C Contract Management Processes.
Working with China Deepwater HSE specialist, prepare and submit all relevant Governmental and HSE and Chinese regulatory Notifications and approvals within required timetables, to achieve the regulatory submittal time requirements. Ensures these are all in place before well construction commences.
Support the Company's Partner approval processes for detailed well objectives, well design, and time cost estimates.
Interface with the Planning team to ensure alignment in all well planning work, including assisting with the development of alternative scenarios and options, time and cost estimates for a variety of well designs and operations.
Ensure all well objectives are risk assessed, identified and documented, including all mechanical factors, and mitigating actions.

Provide day to day operational support to the Drilling Supt during ongoing well operations. Seek to optimize all aspects of the operations.
Capture and analyze lessons learnt, for consolidation and application to other wells. Follow through to close out all deliverables, final well report, close out of lessons learned and project review for well, close out all Chinese regulatory permit requirements.
Monitoring and tracking of well expenditures. Comparison of actual expenditures to plan.
Communication of well site activity with drilling office (Drilling Engineering Manager) and field personnel. Work with drilling and completion professionals and Operations team to evaluate, address and resolve well integrity issues that may develop during drilling of well.

Assist the Rig Acceptance team with issues and preplanning with Chinese based or new Western Drilling contractors dynamically positioned rig. (Still to be determined)

Maintain professional technical capabilities, in particular, awareness of new or novel drilling techniques and processes to enhance D&C effectiveness and efficiency.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Previous experience with a major Operator is a must.
Strong Deep Water project experience.
At least 8 years Drilling Engineering experience.
