The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, seeks expertise for offshore mega-projects in Canada.

This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. First consideration will be given to residents of Newfoundland & Labrador.

The Role:
Work Description:

• Provide operational and drilling construction reference to PMT during detail design development, construction and commissioning of drilling components of offshore platform
• Primary interface between Topsides design team, O&M Contractor and Drilling Operations team
• Ensure the Drilling Equipment Set (DES) and Drilling Support Module (DSM) are safe and meet company expectations in regard to fit for purpose (e.g., equipment sizing/rating, laydown area, storage)
• Participate in vendor clarifications, FAT’s and package acceptance
• Review and respond to spec deviation requests
• Review drawings and specifications
• Address human factors engineering as well as safety of personnel and equipment (in conjunction with Topsides and/or O&M contractor)
• Assist in development and review of commissioning and System Integration Test procedures
• Support construction and commissioning efforts as required

Skills:

• Demonstrated regard for Health, Safety, Security, Ethics and Environmental issues in the workplace
• Extensive knowledge of Drilling policies, procedures, and operational requirements
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to organize and progress own work schedule
• Experience working within multi-disciplined team environment involving multiple stakeholders
• Familiar with applicable industry related codes (API, ASME, ANSI, SAE, ASTM, ABS, DNV, SOLAS, IMO)
• Knowledge of Canada-Newfoundland Labrador Offshore Oil and Gas regulations (CNLOPB)
• Experience in reviewing drawings and schematics (PFDs, P&IDs, E&I system review)
• Willing to relocate to multiple work sites (Houston / St. John's NL / Marystown NL/ Korea) based on Project schedule and need
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
• Fluent in English

Location:

The candidate will be expected to start the position ASAP in St. John's, NL, Canada.

Duration:

Candidate required for remaining stages of project. The minimum expected duration would be 12-24 months total (from March 2013 start date). Opportunities will exist for extension based on performance and project requirements beyond this time frame.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Education Level/Degree: Engineering Degree (Mechanical or Civil) required

Years of Experience: 15 minimum

Experience:

• Experience in Drilling, Completion, Intervention and construction activities in an offshore environment
• Experience in Drilling Rig development including FEED, Detail Design, Construction and Commissioning
• Strong preference for experience in an Integrated Platform Environment
• Background in Drilling, Completions, and Workover operations for extended reach and horizontal wellbores
• Knowledge of Sand Control technology an asset, specifically any experience with gravel packing applications
• Experience and familiarity with Platform Drilling Rig systems specifically in North Atlantic or other harsh weather environments
