The Company:
Our Client is a Global Operator in the Oil, Gas and Energy Industry. This role supports our client's projects in Kenya, East Africa and is based on site in Kenya.

The Role:
Job Purpose:
• Supervise the drilling operation on a daily basis
• Work on the well preparation, equipment mobilization and inspection, site preparation, sub contractor equipment and personnel mobilization.
• Follow the drilling site construction and check that this is as per expectations, prepare the rig move with the contractor, organize the pre-rig move risk assessment meeting.
• The DSI is the contact point for all contractors for equipment mobilization and demobilization - same for personnel.
• The DSI will be responsible to put in place the bridging document for the rig, the oil contingency plan & the waste management plan with the help of the HSE advisor.
• He will follow the HSE aspect of the drilling operation, propose improvement and modification, will do regular safety visits and inspections or audits (compliance with set Policy and Procedures).
• Organize and participate in the Risk Assessment meeting and other pre-spud meetings.
• Prepare the detailed drilling procedures.
• Work in coordination with the contractors (Mud, bits, cement…)
• Prepare the end of well report and other technical documents.

• Deliver a project (New Well, Re-entry, Work-Over, Completion, Testing…) in line with our client's set Policy, IMS standards and procedures within the approved budget and AFE.
• Make sure that operations are managed safely as per international standards and best practices in respect of the local environment.
• Supervise the on site (Drilling, Completion, Testing) supervisors.
• Make sure that HSE is taken into account as a priority in all our operations with the support of the HSE department.
• Make sure that the Well Site Supervisors follow the approved Work Program and than any deviation to that Program or to the Policy is approved before implementation.
• Deliver consistent and effective HSE communications and behaviors.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Education: Engineering (mechanical, petroleum, civil…) degree or equivalent

• 15 to 20 years of Petroleum industry experience (With a minimum of 10 years in Drilling, but also production or geology, reservoir engineer…).
• A minimum of 2 years of site experience in Drilling Supervision.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as Senior Drilling Engineer.
• Experience of remote location operation (Africa, Asia, Middle East)
• Good knowledge of industry normal practices associated with drilling, testing, work-over, wire-line and completion operations.
• High competence with well control techniques (IWCF certificate mandatory).
• The engineering criteria associated with the well construction and operations planning, design and well control issues, hole stability and mud, deviated drilling, completion, testing and production.
• Experience in managing EH&S risks inherent in well operations. Record of delivering consistent and effective HSE results and behaviors.
