The Role:
• Onshore supervision of well operations and other rig based activities to achieve optimum efficiency and safety performance.
• Responsible for technical, financial and administrative aspects of operation of company and contract drilling rigs.
• The post holder is the Company’s operating contact with Drilling Contractors and Service liaison with associated departments.
• Contribute to the development of the Wells Department budget, monitor and authorise expenditure.
• Ensuring direct daily supervision of well operations.
• Liaison with contractors, administration and technical control of service contracts.
• Co-ordination of the drilling/completion/workover and testing of wells to ensure the safe and efficient operation within approved programmes.
• Dissemination of information amongst department and other relevant personnel.
• Ensuring lessons learned are properly recorded and noted during the planning of subsequent operations.
• Post operation performance review, both operational and financial.
• Ensuring that hazard identification and risk assessment processes are adequately addressed to ensure ALARP and communicated to the workforce. All Contractors involved with operations must be made aware of hazards and risks.
• Operating a Change Order Procedure by judging the significance of changes in well programmes and operations.
• Monitoring of contractors performance and resolution of day to day operational deficiencies.
• Responsible for supervision training and involvement in career development of staff.
• Continuous monitoring of ongoing operations, identification and investigation of problems and areas of poor performance, calculation of cost impact and implementation of remedial measures.
• Delivery of well project objectives within budget.
• Management of drilling, well testing and well intervention (as applicable) operations through drilling personnel and liaison with associated departments.
• Ensuring that equipment, personnel and services comply with Company and Government Statutory and Safety Regulations.
• Continuous monitoring of well operations to ensure optimal efficiency.
• Monitoring safety performance of well operations and introducing such initiatives that are required to show a continuous improvement.
• Ensuring adequate measures are implemented to minimise environmental pollution.
• Investigation of well related accidents and incidents and the subsequent report generation and action point follow up.
• Investigation and follow up of well related equipment failures or performance deficiencies.
• Performance monitoring of contractors and service companies and addressing deficiencies identified.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Engineering qualification
• IT skills with the understanding of Excel and Microsoft Word
• Experience of supervising offshore teams
