The Role:
Ensures that all work is done efficiently, safely, and in accordance with approved HBNS Drilling Manual, established company practices and procedures, applicable laws and government rules and regulations (Algerian Oil & Gas Regulations).

Develops and issues verbal and written instructions to the contractor Toolpusher and the service company representatives for desired changes in operations. Monitors the operations to ensure the required changes are performed.

Ensure the operations are conducted in the best interest of Groupement. Discusses future operations plans with the Drilling Superintendent and the Drilling Engineer in an effort to optimize and eliminate problems.

Communicate effectively with the Drilling Superintendent, Drilling Engineer, contractor and all service companies to ensure that all technical specifications of the Drilling Program and Drilling Manual are met.

Prepares a service contractor evaluation form at the end of each well.

Issues instructions in emergency situations. Conducts emergency drills, BOP drills, etc. as often as deemed necessary.

Personally inspects all tools and wellhead equipment for size and pressure rating on arrival at the rig site. Assures that the proper tools and back-ups, if required, are available on location and ready for use. Ensures that every piece of equipment that enters the hole is measured and that the drillstring length is accurately known.

Inspects the drilling equipment frequently to assure that it is being maintained in accordance with terms and conditions of the contract. Discusses with the contractor Toolpusher, actions required to correct problems noted and follows up to see that corrective action is taken.

Recommends ways to reduce cost and improve safety. Cost analysis and / or breakeven analysis should be prepared whenever applicable.

Participates with the Drilling Engineer and Drilling Superintendent in revising / editing the drilling prognosis whenever necessary.

Ensures that the operations are properly documented on the Tour Report and the Daily Drilling Report. Prepares transfer documents, receiving documents, LOT spreadsheet / graphs, casing and cementing reports, cementing plug reports, casing tallies, BHAs, etc.., to ensure well records are accurate.

Responsible for the entire wellsite drilling operations. Ultimate authority for all personnel on the rig site.

To organize safety meetings to specify the role and the place of each one, according to the nature of the incident. Personally investigates accidents, incidents and equipment failures that occur on wellsite. To anticipate possible incidents.

Provide technical trouble shooting when problems occur on the drilling rig.

Ensure that wells are drilled and completed in a manner that meets the objectives of the Reservoir, Production, Geological departments and upper management.

Coordinate with the Drilling Superintendent and the Drilling Material Coordinator the timely arrival of drilling equipment and services on well site.

Monitor drilling expenditures on a daily basis with the goal of drilling the most cost effective wells possible without jeopardizing quality. Maintain daily cost control records.

Encourage an atmosphere of teamwork among the drilling rig staff.

Evaluate resources need to provide, to perform the most efficient drilling operations and request the resources through the Superintendent.

Define the policy of the Groupement with the contractors and service companies.

Liase with HBNS Groupement Civil Works personnel to ensure that well platforms are constructed to specifications, in a timely manner.

Raise requisitions and work-orders.

To follow up the move and to prepare the reception of the rig.

To conduct daily morning meetings preceding some operations (contractor, service companies)

To evaluate the personnel under his responsibility.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Limitations:
Algerian work permits cannot be obtained for individuals aged 28 or younger/60 or older.

Qualifications:

Landmark software “OPEN WELLS”.
Microsoft Word and Excel.
7-10 years operator/contractor drilling supervisor, Petroleum Engineering, and or toolpusher experience
Engineering Degree

Required Experience:

The Drilling Supervisor is the official Groupement Berkine representative on the rig, ensuring Groupement's interest is best served. The direct point of contact from Groupement with the on-site service providers.

Responsible for implementing the drilling program in the best interests of time, cost, safety and quality and is responsible for the results. Ensure the good execution of the drilling program by the drilling contractor and service providers.

Co-ordinate with the Drilling Superintendent for services, personnel and equipment.

Assist in the completion supervision in completing the well.
