The Role:
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) / Compliance
Lead onsite operations safely and efficiently, through application of highest level of leadership ensuring field personnel understand, and comply with BP drilling, completion and well intervention Technical and HSE standards, policies, practices, drills, bridging documents, emergency response incl Well Control emergency response and National legislative requirements.
Ensure safety has the highest priority and is at the forefront of drilling planning, execution with all contractors and service providers.
Lead and participate in any and all morning safety meetings and pre-job tool box talks, take an active participation in review of job risk assessments, perform regular safety observation tours, audits, safety observation conversations and time out for safety discussions
Set clear expectations and hold personnel accountable for safe implementation of all well related activities.
Lead / Participate in accident/incident investigations and ensure actions closed out within the deadline.
Ensure dispensations are in place for any deviations from policy though the Management of Change Process.
Participate in HAZOP/HAZID studies as required

Collaborate with engineering staff in development, implementation and evaluation of drilling operation programs, providing planning support and operational clarity.
Capture lessons learned during drilling operations and ensure procedures/practices and programs are amended to ensure best practice implemented.

Offshore Execution
Execute programme in accordance with BP Policies, standards and practices.
Monitor, evaluate and accurately report daily operations, variances and performance against the programme, non productive time analysis and third party contracts, through BP reporting system(s),
Accurately complete daily reports by reporting system.
Ensure all drilling BHAs are recorded. Report and schematic to include but not limited to lengths, diameters (OD/ID) and thread types.
Ensure accurate drilling casing / tubing running tallies are prepared on time.
Perform calculations but not limited to Kick Tolerance, Well Control, Cementing, toque drag, swab/surge, overpull/stretch, space-outs, etc.
Manage personnel on board and logistics and Maintain accurate equipment/materials inventories.
Work effectively with OIM and facilities personnel
Actively work with and manage Contractor and Service Company personnel
Lead all pre drilling meetings, post operations wash-up/continuous improvement sessions.
Effective hand over with opposite shift supervisor (day/night).

Provide supervision, mentoring, coaching, training and development of National personnel.
Review resumes of contractor support personnel to ensure competent.

Continuous Improvement / Learning
Review best practices and ensure lessons learned (HSE and Operational) are captured and communicated to onshore teams.

Financial, Procurement and Contracts
Manage and control of operational site costs
Provide technical and operational support during review of service contract tender exercises as required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Azerbaijan citizenship.

Minimum seven (7) years of experience in drilling operations.
Minimum Three (3) years of experience as WSL (Drilling Supervisor) in offshore environment (platform or drill ship, semi-submersible rig,)
Demonstrable leadership in HSE implementation
Valid Well Control Certificate: IADC/Wellcap or IWCF; Surface and Subsea; Supervisory Level.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
WSL experience with a Global Major Oil Operator
Demonstrable capabilities of leading, developing, training and coaching less National Drilling personnel.
A degree or diploma in engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
Proven track record as strong team player, strong interpersonal, decision making, time management and organisational skills and ability to work and interface with other disciplines i.e. OIM.
Offshore operational drilling experience in: HTHP wells, ERD drilling, Narrow Margin Frac/Pore Pressure rig based work-over / side-track operations.
Computer literacy in Microsoft applications and morning reporting/database systems (i.e. OpenWells),
