The Company:
Our Client is a Leading Global Operator in the Oil and Gas Industry.

The Role:
Main Responsibilities:

Lead the London based well engineering team through project Appraise, Select and Define project workphases prior to handover to the drilling & completions execution team post sanction for all drilling, completion, welltest and intervention activities. Specifically;

• Work closely with the asset and subsurface teams to generate and evaluate well conceptual designs to agreed well objectives
• Refine selected well concepts to achieve an executable and AFE level costed well design.
• Provide input into the AFE sanction process and input to other internal and external approvals
• Make continuous effort to improve regional well construction performance through well-researched applications and new tools and techniques.

Main Tasks:

Lead the drilling and completions team in providing the following project deliverables;

Select workphase

• Project resourcing plan and activity scheduling
• Input to the PLANC register
• Conceptual well designs to peer reviews
• Offset well event database
• Well concept durations and costings
• Directional well designs for each concept
• Risk Assessments for each design concept
• Identification of Engineering Studies
• Identification of Long Leads
• Well engineering input into the project concept selection report

Define workphase

• Casing design report utilising Landmark software
• Completion / sandface / welltest design
• Functional specification / workscopes for equipment and services
• Interface engineering
• Project KPI’s
• Well Basis of Design documentation
• AFE Well duration and cost estimates
• Coordinate platform interface engineering

Execute (Pre Well Ops) workphase

• Set-up and coordination of the handover process of well planning and engineering data to the drilling and completions execution team
• Support to the well execution team prior to and during the execution phase including participation in DWOP sessions

Related activities:

• Participate in and lead discipline technical meetings with other regional areas.
• Participate in reviews of the Corporate (Tier II) Well Design and Operations Management Standards documentation.
• Review and maintain regional (Tier III and IV) well engineering documentation and standards.
• Provide general well engineering advice, data room support and class III cost estimates to the asset teams as requested during pre-project Appraise workphases.
• Manage the suspended well inventory including inspection and abandonment programmes.
• Benchmark all current drilling and completion activity against peers
• Coach, motivate and regularly assess the well engineering team
• Make offshore visits as required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Engineering or subsurface degree qualified
Offshore medical / Bosiet / survival certification
Proven drilling & completions experience within an offshore environment
Some experience of the Southern Gas Basin will be an advantage
Proven project management experience
Managing contractors/3rd parties, with million-pound contract values
Experienced of drilling engineering
Good data management skills and demonstrated computer software literacy
Stresscheck / WellCat software experience
IWCF Certified Combined Well Control
