The Role:
Construction Rep.
Receives general instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new or involved work. Proceeds on own initiative for routine work. Completed work is reviewed for critical or complex items. Limited guidance on routine work, but more on new work.
Skilled in basic construction principles in his assigned discipline. Can provide basic on-site construction representation for civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and/or electrical works on routine and non-complex construction project(s) under the direct supervision of the Construction Supervisor or Lead Construction Specialist or higher level Construction Specialist. Work includes review and comment of Job Packs; review and comment of isometric, Process Flow Drawings (PFD), and Process and Instrument Drawings (P&ID); review and comment on all Safety in Design (SID) issues. Manages on-site construction contractors and provide safety management on the job site. Monitor contractor adherence to Safety Instructions, RoK construction codes, AFC drawings, and quality of construction. Review and approve all contractor daily timesheets for accuracy. Work with Construction Engineers to manage Instructions To Contractors (ITC's) and Site Engineering Queries (SEQ). Ensure WR is current and updated to reflect changes. Assist OPS and participate in all site audits.
Responsible for more complex construction projects and can manage multiple projects concurrently. Provides excellent on-site construction representation for civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and/or electrical works with minimal direct supervision of the Construction Supervisor or Lead Construction Specialist.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contractors on complex projects and can safely manage high risk construction activities like hot taps and critical lifts.
Recognized subject matter expert on construction practices in his assigned discipline, and can provide good solutions to complex and multi-discipline construction related problems.
If acting as a lead for a small number of Construction Specialists, capable of demonstrating basic supervisory skills, giving work assignment and work flow direction. Able to begin to expand his sphere of influence to include Operations, Loss Prevention and Reliability
Must be accountable for personal safety, contractor safety, construction specialists he or she leads, and safety performance of Construction Group.
Must be an active participant in Behavior Based Safety Program (BBS).
Demonstrated effectiveness as a mentor to less experienced Construction Specialists.
- Education: higher level from university or technical institution.
- Relevant work experience - not less than 2-3 years.
- Must be Qualified as per PLSC system and / or other internationally accepted qualifications.
- Safe work processes and procedures (company and contractor).
- Achieve or exceed English level 3 on proficiency scale.
- Full use and application of basic operational and applied process principles and techniques.
- Have knowledge of principles and techniques in other related disciplines.
- Initiate routine procedures and becomes proactive on non-routine procedures.
- Work group construction specialists rely on technical judgment and conclusions and recognize practitioner as fully competent within one or more specific disciplines.
- Demonstrate solid oral and written communication skills in area of responsibility, and with customers, stakeholders, and first and second line management.
- Recognized by cross-functional peers for technical expertise in one of more fields, and as an active contributor to team efforts.
