The Company:
Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from New Build, through Operations and Maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste disposal.

The Role:
Based - Westlakes

The EC&I Design Engineer is principally a hands-on design based role with a degree of team leadership within discipline. The EC&I Design Engineer can be responsible for delivering a package of work within a project within their discipline. Frequent liaison with other disciplines in the design team and the client would be expected. Engineers are the main interface between senior management and hands-on design.

The EC&I Design Engineer will be involved with development of designs to satisfy technical specifications.
Prepare supporting design calculations to substantiate design.
Check design calculations of designers and other engineers within the team.
Actively contribute to design reviews, safety reviews (Risk Assessments and HAZOP’s) from technical standpoint will also be involved in the EC&I Design Engineer role.
Preparation of technical specifications in liaison with client and project team.
Produce design documentation throughout the design process including scope of works, method statements, risk assessments, technical files and other technical documentation to comply with design standards, safety legislation/regulatory requirements and the needs of the client
The CE&I Design Engineer will prepare installation, commissioning and operating documents.
Planning and allocation of workload to other members of design team within discipline in order to deliver package of work.
Management of sub-contractors providing niche services to the design.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum HNC qualification or equivalent gained within a relevant discipline e.g. Mechanical Engineering.
Demonstrable competence gained in a design delivery position.
Experience in nuclear is essential.
Technical design experience in EC&I will include conceptual design and design calculations.
Combination of control systems and instrumentation design experience is required.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Preferably degree qualified in a relevant technical/engineering discipline though not essential.
