The Role:
MAIN GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

To provide engineering support to the Bentley BY63x EDS project team, working with both Bentley internal functions and also with the EDS concept development parnter, ensuring that the products development of BY63x meets Bentley’s functional, timing and cost requirements


RESPONSIBILITY/TASKS AND CUSTOMERS



MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (Maximum of 5 relating to products, services etc.)

1. Support and Lead Design Development
• Reporting directly to the BY63x EDS project leader
• Provide EDS Engineering support during the BY63x project concept phase
• Assist and advise on with 3D harness routing as best suits architecture (Mains/engine/panels)
• Define C/O harness ducts / channels
• Develop BY fusing layout based on donor strategy
• Help provide data to support PDS / Bid spec’s
• Help Define EDS changes required to Bentley Changes
• Provide technical Support for simulators and prototypes
• Support concept/design reviews
• Help define vehicle harness BOM
• Help understand and manipulate donor information Schalplans/EB cable/KAB plans/L Dorado drawings.
• Produce EDS information to support Bentley project management
2. Delivery of projects
• Responsible for planning and managing own project related activities within the project timing.
• Reporting of project status for area of responsibility in project team, including understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business
• Help deliver a Bentley EDS programme which is capable of meeting the vehicle specifications detailed in the relevant PDB or TCD.
• Knowledge of cost of parts and systems, with an understanding of value engineering.
3. Problem Solving
Ability to solve complex engineering and design related problems.
Analysis and management of design related concerns to identify the root cause.
Collection and management of data and analysis to produce reports as appropriate.
4. Developing and Maintaining Specialist knowledge
• Responsible for keeping the functional area up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility.
• Capture learning from previous experience.
• Working with Group partners to keep up to date with latest Group developments.
5. Ability to work within a team
• Able to work effectively in the cross functional team. Able to achieve required performance from a team for which there is no organisational line responsibility.

PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
Significant knowledge of: design and development; test and measurement; engineering drawings; software tools such as VOBES and Capital Harness
Understanding of Product Emergence Process (PEP)



QUALIFICATIONS

Engineering degree preferably in an electrical or electronic discipline.
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or working towards such achievement
Previous EDS design/development experience with a supplier or OEM
