The Role:
RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITY

• Develops overall plant safety policies and programs, safety effectiveness and controls ie. audits or measure necessary to be certain high standards are met and maintained.
• Overviews the training of the fire brigade to be certain group efficiency and readiness is exemplary.
• Ensures proper and thorough investigations of incidents associated with operation on and off sire involving safety, health and/or environmental consequences.
• Assures compliance with all Governmental and Company standards for Environment, Health and Safety.
• Responsible for the effectiveness of safety training programs for the safety indoctrination of all new employees.
• Provide safety direction and approval to any new equipment, policies, or procedures in the plant.
• Develops an overall environmental management program including air emissions, waste water treatment and solid waste handling.
• Monitors all regulation concerning environmental affairs and ensure that the plant has programs and control in place to comply fully.
• Maintains an effective industrial hygiene and health program to monitor employee exposures to chemical and physical risks ensuring employee health maintenance.
• Advise the top management on EHS matters as stipulated in Factory Act, Poison Act and other government regulations.
• Act as a secretary in the Safety Committee to assist the Plant Manager (Chairman) to promote EHS program.
• Participate in accident investigation and reporting.
• Work closely with local Government Authorities to approach all permits and license regarding EHS matters. Maintain a good working relationship with the Authorities’ Departments.
• Sampling and analysis of wastewater and trade effluent.
• Coordinating industrial waste disposal, supervision of landscape and cleaning contractors.
• Conducting new employee and contractor safety training.
• Coordinating periodic inspection of safety equipment,
• Conducting employee exposure monitoring.
• Provide support to ISO/TS16494, ISO9001, ISO14001 and other Quality Management Systems implementation process
• Encourage all staff to work under EHS rules and regulation and also promote for EHS matters.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports operationally directly to Plant Manager and functionally dotted line to Security & Crisis Management Leader. The incumbent is an active member of Plant Leadership team.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or any related Engineering fields
- Minimum 10 years experience in Environmental, Health and Safety with at least 3 years in management level
- Background from chemical manufacturing industry or Multi-national Company is preferred.
- Good leadership and people management skills
- Problem solving and root cause analysis skill
- Hands-on
- Influencing and presentation skill
- Computer literacy
- Good command of English communication
