The Company:
Our client is a major oil and gas refinery in Northwest Ohio.

The Role:
The Electrical Construction Supervisor has primary responsibility for effectively executing projects in the field that enhance or expand existing refinery assets. This position supervises multiple projects in the field that can be implemented through work orders or bid construction contracts. As the leader of assigned construction teams, the Electrical Construction Supervisor assures that safety, quality, cost, time, and performance requirements are met so these assets are safe, environmentally sound, operable, reliable and maintainable.

Accountabilities Include:
• Understand relevant Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) regulations, policies and procedures applicable to the design and construction of projects.
• Actively participate in health, safety and environmental performance and awareness to achieve our goals of no accidents, no harm to people and no harm to the environment. Investigate accidents and near-misses. Prepare, conduct, or otherwise ensure completion of regular safety meetings with contractors. Promote maintenance of a clean, safe work site and ensures adequate housekeeping.
• Primary interface to ensure that acceptable quality control is maintained throughout the project. Responsibilities include monitoring of materials, supplies and work practices to maintain adherence to the BP Technical practices and refinery standards. Responsible to ensure Contractor is installing equipment per the specifications and drawings and to communicate any disputes therein.
• Lead the permitting, construction, commissioning, and startup for assigned projects. Support good decision making and project execution.
• Act as the primary interface with Electrical Contractors and be responsible for all communication, QA/QC, reviews, and issue resolution. Proactively work with relevant departments to take corrective action and achieve mutually agreeable solutions to problems.
• Work with the Project Controls Group as required to operate an effective project control system that accurately measures, monitors, and reports progress against key performance indicators.
• Work collaboratively with Project Engineering and other groups to ensure that project definition and milestones are managed according to principles of Capital Value Process.
• Work collaboratively with Project Engineering to utilize appropriate technical resources for installation support. Ensure that all new equipment meets the goals of safe operations and long-term reliability and maintainability.
• Apply relevant BP Technical Practices and appropriate industry engineering specifications, standards, procedures and regulations to all jobs.
• Oversee and mentor Electrical Contractors in a culture which fosters teamwork, professionalism, safety, and high integrity.
• Ensures commissioning deliverables are met from a project management perspective.
• Update all relevant drawings and documentation and provides information according to refinery practices in a timely manner to ensure that relevant training information is updated and/or communicated to the appropriate personnel.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• High School degree and a minimum of 15 years of relevant electrical construction experience is required. Associates degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant electrical construction experience is required. Electrical Technology preferred. Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant electrical construction experience is required. Electrical Engineering preferred. Refinery knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical construction installation practices and codes. Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices. Ability to lead and implement inherent safety into projects.
• Demonstrated capability for delivering high-quality projects.
• Ability to interact, direct, influence, and coach Electrical Contractors.
• Knowledge about a broad range of industrial equipment and associated construction and maintenance methods.
