The Company:
For over 40 years our client has led the field in the design and manufacture of products that protect people and plants from blast, fire and heat hazards. Products include accommodation modules, equipment rooms and escape routes for Offshore & Onshore Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Renewable, Chemical and Petrochemical customers.

The Role:
An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join the busy existing MTE Ltd team with immediate effect. This role will report directly to the Electrical Project Engineer and the successful candidate will be required to support the following daily activities:

• Develop and introduce improved working practises.
• Identifying customer requirements
• Commercial awareness
• Designing systems and products
• Providing technical support and guidance for all live projects
• Project cost control
• Problem solving
• Researching suitable solutions
• Proposing modifications so as to improve on future designs
• Estimating costs and timescales
• Making models & prototypes of products
• Working and complying with current standards, keeping up to date with changes to applicable legislation.
• Keeping up to date with technological advances and new components/products
• Liaising with all functions within the business
• Liaising with customers & suppliers
• Attending meetings both at MTE and customer sites
• Installation & Commissioning work as requested.
• Develop own personal technical competence
• Maintenance and improvement of business systems
• Quality systems management
• Preparing product documentation, writing reports and giving presentations
• Providing help and assistance when and where necessary within the assembly workshop.
• Servicing and maintaining equipment in house
• Adhere to requirements relating to Health & Safety
• Developing design specifications based on client requirements
• Checking subcontractor design specifications
• Formulating light and cable calculations
• Specifying materials required for designs
• Designing products using Auto CAD templates and borders
• Preparing paperwork to support the product testing process
• Producing required documentation for ISO9000 audit process
• Providing general electrician engineering support for live projects

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• HND, Degree or similar Electrical Engineering qualification
• Proficient in the use of Auto CAD 2D(essential) & 3D (preferred)
• An understanding of electrical principles
• An electrical background is highly desirable
• Dialux & Amtech proficient
• Strong arithmetic skills
• Full understanding of Microsoft office package
