Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Connected Technologies (Mobile Apps and Connected Infotainment)

We are looking for a Vehicle to App API maintainer to lead the design, development and maintenance of mobile apps. Applications supplemented with vehicle sensor data can adapt effectively to vehicle system changes. This allows Apps specifically designed for the vehicle to give greater control over the user experience in varying scenarios. One distinct aspect is between the car being stationary or in motion, the external environment - including time of day, vehicle configuration, external temperature, vehicle warnings, road/terrain conditions.

This role will cover mobile App development and as a standalone system in a vehicle environment, communicating with both on-board and off-board systems and support a range of HTML5 and native iOS and Android Apps augmented further via vehicle information. The role will require good knowledge of the vehicle communication systems (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and messages to create and maintain an abstract list of APIs for to mobile App developers. In addition to managing the Vehicle to App APIs the successful candidate will be heavily involved in supporting the design, delivery and maintenance of a range of HTML5 consumer facing apps.

Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Lead vehicle API development and maintenance
- Deliver across the entire app life cycle (concept, design, build, deploy, test, release) - to vehicle gate processes and support
- Working directly with JLRs SDK partners and product managers internally to conceptualise, build, test and release stable iterations of the API framework

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Detailed knowledge of the vehicle networks, gateways and interactions (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
- Proven automotive network experience
- A track record of delivering successful vehicle products to market
- Ability to use analytic data and user testing to make informed design decisions
- Awareness new consumer technology and the emerging automotive app landscape
- Ability to work on their own and as a part of the team
- Excellent testing/ QA skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to liaise with various departments, locally and internationally
- 4-5 years of systems interaction expertise
- Experience in designing and maintaining APIs in a cross-platform environment ¿
- Experience of working closely with QA and Testing functions, delivery ensures robust, future-scoped and maintainable APIs are implemented
- Ability to multi task and good time management skills
- Ability to work on their own and as a part of the team
- Excellent communication skil

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Main point of contact for liaison with Vehicle Networks / Research / APC team and influence future strategy
- Facilitate and manage simulation of prototype API frameworks
- Articulate technology roadmap and solutions to stakeholders
- Ensure robust, future-scoped and maintainable APIs are implemented
- Oversee cross-platform integration and identify new data sources for consumption within the business
