The Role:
Key Responsibilities and duties:

• To provide technical expertise in the design for UK Power Systems Rail Substation projects.
• To design substations and associated detail diagrams in accordance with established UK standards and processes.
• To develop and adhere to detailed project plans ensuring project on time delivery
• Provide technical support during tender in scope clarification and answering technical questions

Project Delivery

• To provide support in the development of the Design Intent Document
• To provide support during the production of Site Layouts, Single Line Diagrams, Protection & Metering Diagrams, Schematic/Wiring Diagrams, Cable Schedules, Termination sheets, Cable routing drawings, Earthing drawings, Interfacing & Interlocking diagrams, and As Built drawings.
• To develop technical specification of Plant items such as Switchgear, Transformers, CT's, VT's in terms of electrical characteristics and physical dimensions, Circuit Breakers, auxiliary supply boards and Protection & Control Equipment
• To specify manufacturing instructions for Marshalling Cubicles, Kiosks & Wallboxes, Relay Cubicle Steelwork Design
• To develop Project material equipment schedules
• To design Power Quality Correction (SVC & Harmonic Filters) including interface to existing systems
• To develop and interface schematic diagrams such as AC connection diagrams, block tripping diagrams, Distance and unit protection schemes, Biased differential transformer protection, Overcurrent and earth fault protection, Controls schemes such as Synchronising, delayed auto reclose, Busbar protection and Circuit breaker fail schemes
• To support in modifying existing substation drawings.
• To input into design review meetings.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• The successful candidate will have a minimum qualification of HNC/HND in Electrical engineering or equivalent.
• To be enthusiastic and committed providing high quality support, working closely within a team of dedicated professionals.
• The ability for communicate at all levels is essential to this role.
• To be capable of working to tight project time scales, work comfortably under pressure and have an honest and loyal approach.
• Electricity Supply industry experience, and knowledge of 132kV to 11kV practises.
