The Role:
Principal Electrical Engineer
Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:
- Planning, engineering, design, procurement and construction of Electrical Systems for Oil &Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical Projects.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards as well as Company Policies, Procedures and guidelines.
- Development/ improvement of department Procedures and Processes.
- Supervise, lead and guide project team(s) to design and build within safety, quality, scope, quantity, cost, schedule and productivity targets.
- Plan, monitor, control and report the progress.
- Provide consultation/ guidance and mentor less experienced engineers and designers.
- Coordinate electrical engineering and design with other engineering disciplines, construction, Client, vendors and 3rd party Contractors.
- Ensure and perform effective scope and change management.
- Design, prepare, review and approval of following engineering and design deliverables:
- Scope of work, Design Basis and execution plans.
- Electrical Power Distribution system, load list, one line diagrams.
- Hazardous Area Classification and layouts for substation/ electrical building, power, cable tray, grounding, lighting.
- Schematics and wiring diagrams. Cable/ conduit schedule.
- Panel/ termination details, installation details.
- Specifications, datasheets, Inspection Test plans for electrical equipment, systems and mechanical packages.
- Power System Analysis- load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash, protection co-ordination/ relay setting, transient stability, harmonics using ETAP or SKM.
- Liason with other offices when involved in workshare assignment.
- Guide, support and participate in Design Reviews for 3D Modelling, Constructability and Value Engineering.
- Support Procurement including Inquiry Requisition, Technical Bid Evaluations, Purchase Requisition, vendor drawing review and FAT.
- Procurement support and vendor drawing review for Mechanical packages and other disciplines.
- Provide support to construction, commissioning and startup.
- Support Proposals including review of ITT, clarifications, estimation of engineering manhours, material quantities and cost. Experience in estimation of manhours, quantities and cost is a plus.
- Perform Field visits/ surveys.
Qualification/ Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Power Systems.
- More than 20 years of electrical engineering and design experience including 8 years in leadership role.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the United States.
- Indepth knowledge of National Electrical code (NEC).
- Familiarity and experience with industry codes and standards.
- Strong leadership, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Suppliers in the United States.

Preferred qualification/ experience:
- LNG Projects
- Power generation.
- Lump-sum Turnkey EPC Projects.
- Experience with 69kV substation, tie-ins/ modifications and interfacing with Utility Company.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Canada.
