The Company:
Our large oil and gas client is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a 6-9 month contract in Houston, TX.

The Role:
The position will be part of a multi-disciplinary technical team that will support ship design and construction project managers and the technical manager with general and specialist electrical maritime expertise.

This position exists to ensure the correct technical knowledge is available in support of global shipping projects, with emphasis with HV and LV electrical systems, electric drives and associated systems (convertors, breaking resistors, generators, and motors etc), control and automation systems.

Responsibilities:
a) Responsible for performing work assigned by the hiring Project Manager.
b) Responsible to provide technical support to enable the Project Manager to deliver on their project (for new and existing vessels) which shall include but not be limited to technical studies, producing tender documentation, evaluating technical proposals, vendors, shipyards and proposing optimal technical solutions.
c) Responsbile for communicating with the various technical authorities in Company and other specialist project team members.
d) Responsible for maintianing industry links, knoweldge of industry, flag and class regulations and guidelines and is aware of best availble technology

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
-The jobholder should hold a Degree in Electrical Engineering. Consideration may be given for similar qualification such as senior electrical officer, with suitable experience.
-They shall have practical experience in the design, installation and commissioning of HV marine electrical systems and be update date with current practices, options and issues.
-Preference will be given to candidates having prior experience of diesel electric systems. Candidates should have years of experience in; design, installation, commissioning or operations of complex electrical marine installations.
-Position requires knowledge of classification society (ABS, DNV, etc.), statutory, and industry standard compliance. Strong technical engineering evaluation skills and the ability to manage and evaluate engineering designs.
