Job Description/Major Duties (general job functions, responsibilities, day-to-day tasks & activities)
The Electrical Engineer (SCADA) is a unique and specialized position within the Power Team responsible to operate, monitor and maintain the soon to be commissioned E-SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system which will control the integrity of the Mukhaizna Electrical System.
This will be a shift position that requires the Engineer (SCADA) to overview and operate the security of the power system in real time and co-ordinate the supply of and demand for electricity, in a manner that avoids fluctuations in frequency or interruptions of supply. Also, shall be required to maintain a continuous (second-by-second) balance between electricity supply from power sources and demand from asset equipment, and also ensure the provision of reserves that will allow for sudden contingencies. In addition, achieves this by determining the optimal combination of generating stations and reserves from the Oman Power grid, instructing generators when and how much electricity to generate, and managing any contingent events that cause the balance between supply and demand to be disrupted.
The Electrical Engineer (SCADA) responsibilities will include but not limited to:
• Review and operate the daily Power Control Center activities to facilitate critical coordination of generation and/or load interconnection 24 hours per day – 7 days per week.
• Operate within the internal procedures to advance the consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Power Control Center activities.
• Work with field personnel to safely restore/isolate equipment for maintenance and various activities.
• Analyze Power System conditions and engineer/ implement corrective actions.
• Provide information and support to the required individuals for scheduling, outage reporting and accounting for energy and supplementary services.
• Maintain relevant KPI”s, reports, operational logs and records.
• Provide support to other departments needing expert electricity analysis, resources and/or information.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Requirements (Education required, background, experience, skills)
• Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferred in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years work experience with electrical transmission, distribution and generation systems in oil & gas operations or similar environments (e.g. power generation, high voltage distribution systems, substations, equipment/end-device protection, and power quality) as an Electrical Transmission System Operator/ Engineer.
• Experience with Power system Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition-type equipment (SCADA), Automatic Generation Control (AGC), Energy Management System (EMS), and power scheduling programs.
• Experienced with protective relays, circuit re-closers, power and distribution transformers, synchronous machines, medium voltage switchgear and MCC, large medium voltage motors, high voltage substations, transmission and distribution lines.
