The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Design engineer working within the Electrical Engineering Department as part of the Next Generation Infotainment (NGI) team. Responsible for the re-application of complex integrated Infotainment (NGI) hardware components including the main Master and Slave Head Units to new vehicle programmes. The NGI head units are at the heart of the infotainment system. They interface with a significant number of other vehicle systems to deliver the required infotainment experience. This includes antennas for FM, DAB,, TV, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity plus a number of high speed data links including APIX2, USB3 and BroadR-Reach Ethernet. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Infotainment core commodity gateway deliverables for applicable programmes and Infotainment core development to the required timeline and quality, including technical issues resolution and Manufacturing/Service requirements. Key activities include: - Liaison with other teams and owners to coordinate test activities and issues resolution. - Contributing to the cross-functional activities that support the system deliverables and system sign-off. - Co-ordinating with Design and Packaging to ensure installations meet vehicle requirements while providing the best experience for the end user. - Contributing to the resolution of issues (AIMS and/or e-trackers), involving other areas as required, e.g. EMC, Packaging, other Electrical teams, Manufacturing, Purchasing, STA. - Releasing components to the vehicle BOM while understanding system complexity and usage codes required for each system/market. - Liaison with Launch Teams at associated manufacturing plants and providing support through the production lifecycle - Managing cross-car-line requirements and ensuring a commonality between platforms. - Understanding the JLR change and release process (PACN/WERS/ALERTS). - Working with the Electronics specialists team to ensure a robust product design.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Ability to deliver complex Engineering System commodities to a set timeframe. Strong communication skills - ability to work as part of a small team and interface with multiple cross functional teams and departments. Ability to generate and understand Engineering Specifications. Motivated self-starter, able to act on own initiative in order to determine business & project priorities and plan & act accordingly. An ability to solve problems of a complex nature with a vision to anticipate issues before they arise. A full driving licence valid for the UK. Experience of delivering technical programmes, general electrical/electronics development experience. Ideally, previous experience of Automotive projects. Degree or equivalent in a technically relevant subject.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience in infotainment / car entertainment systems. Prior knowledge of automotive systems (CAN/LIN/MOST) are preferred. Knowledge of electronics systems design and packaging. Understanding of the Engineering Design Process (V-diagram) Experience of Engineering Quality toolsets and processes - FMEA, Interface Analysis, Boundary Diagrams, 6-Sigma etc. Previous experience of the client's Electrical programmes, vehicle programmes and internal systems would be a distinct advantage. Knowledge of automotive Infotainment systems. Experience of specifying/verifying automotive electrical commodities. Knowledge of the client's toolsets and processes - GPDS, eFDVS, RMDV, AIMS, WERS Knowledge of High Speed data links - APIX2, USB3, BroadR-Reach, HDMI Knowledge of ECU Diagnostics - Diagnostic protocols, routines and DTCs.
