The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Assist the User Controls Technical Specialist in the implementation of UCIC strategy as well as assuming responsibility for certain key tasks:
• Assisting with definition and delivery of work streams within the User Controls/Infotainment hardware commodity team areas in order to enable effective, efficient and pro-active team working in the delivery of Screen and user control hardware according to programme needs.
• Support and develop the delivery of benchmark studies to define overall position and placement of JLR with the industry with respect to HMI and User Controls.
• Assisting with technical interface with supplier(s) in the delivery of the above systems to the milestones described, including technical issues resolution.
• Working with the wider User controls team
• Ensure feature alignment between areas, both in Electrical and in the wider business
• Use market research, benchmarking and quality analysis to future Infotainment performance and track programme compliance.
• Identify cost, packaging and weight implications of feature requirements and work with Core Team Packaging Team to determine solutions and impact assessments.
• Support competitor benchmarking gaining a good understanding of competitor best practice.
• Prepare and present documentation for Programme checkpoints and gateways

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
1. Demonstrable technical delivery experience in the automotive industry.
2. Able to communicate confidently at all levels within the business and the supply base.
3. Strategic component planning and assessment against completive set.

Self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision.
Ability to understand the wider electrical system
Candidates must be committed, flexible and able to work under pressure.
Developed business working processes for a team to follow
Good PC skills and must be IT literate.
Conceptual and analytical thinker
Physics / Engineering-based degree in a relevant discipline, or relevant experience in Infotainment or User Controls delivery.
Full, current driving licence and be able to travel in the UK and abroad for short-term business assignments.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience in HMI
Experience with Automotive Electrical systems
Have Developed Business cases for functions/features to implement.
Experience with defining and documenting project status for gateway deliverables.
Experience in design, development and project delivery for automotive switches or electro-mechanical components.
Knowledge of automotive plastics and finishing processes, and interior illumination design.
Experience in automotive communication networks such as CAN and LIN.
Benchmarking and/or strategy development experience. Display Industry knowledge advantageous.
