The Role:
MAIN FUNCTIONS
• Provide an objective, unbiased field assessment of sub-project work sites on high risk, life critical safety activities programs with potential to result in serious injuries or fatalities including:
 Life Saving Rules
 Work at Height (including dropped objects, ladders, aerial lifts, manbaskets, etc)
 Scaffolding (coordinate with EM Scaffold SME & EPC SME’s)
 Crane Lifting & Rigging (coordinate with EM Crane SME & EPC SME’s)
 Excavations
 Heavy Equipment & Traffic/People
 Confined Space
 Energy Isolation / Lockout Tagout
 Hand Tools (Grinders, other high hazard tools)
 Electrical Safety (Temporary Electrical Installations)
 Infrequent High Risk Work: Hydroblasting, Radiography, Pressure Testing, Work Over/Near Water, Hot Taps / Interconnects, Inert Entry, Abseiling / Rope Access, etc)
• Develop detailed leading indicator checklists for above activities/programs that can be used to evaluate in-depth contractor performance, target specific improvement actions and be used as potential training tools
• LI checklists will be used for two main purposes:
 To provide “Hot Spots” short report monthly to Sub-Project PMT / EPC teams to highlight their top 1 - 3 critical leading indicators and “At Risk” behavior trends, with specific recommended actions to address (and support to address actions, if needed)
 To give a monthly performance summary on critical construction safety leading indicators (via SHE Data Analyst) for use in monthly project report
• Provide real-time field observation / feedback to field contractors, with direct intervention on “Imminent Danger” situations; Observation will be managed in a central database (managed by SHE Data Analyst)
• During assessments & observations, pictures may be taken on work site area of positive practices and learning opportunities – feedback (&/or intervention) will be given first, and PMT / EPC teams will be contacted immediately to make them aware. Pictures will be used constructively for training and regular (bi-weekly or monthly) Project Safety Newsletter
• Proactively work with PMT and Contractors teams to improve existing (or develop new) project safety plans, programs, procedures &/or controls to meet the operator's expectations (and ultimately improve effectiveness of contractor system and programs).

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• College degree, technical education or equivalent valued; Construction craft/trade &/or operator experience preferred
• At least 15 years field construction, and at least 8-10 years Safety/SHE experience required
• Candidates must have previous operator's construction project experience; Greenfield (new construction) experience required, Brownfield (in-plant) project experience desired.
