The Company:
Our Client is one of the UK's leading suppliers of instrumentation for a diverse range of applications in the nuclear industry.

The Role:
Currently looking for an Embedded Software Engineer / Systems Design Engineer to join a leading international Engineering organisation operating its own manufacturing and design divisions across a global market.

As an Embedded Software Engineer / Systems Designer you will report to the R&D Team Leader and your main duties will involve:
• Embedded system Hardware/Software specification and design.
• Development of embedded Systems to control and deliver new features and applications within existing and future instrumentation products
• Working with other parts of the organisation to capture requirements and task definition
• Develop and test software to agreed timescales
• Deliver & maintain (including defect investigation), high quality software in line with the company targets
• To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the company’s Business Management System (BMS) processes and procedures
• To ensure that all activities and working practices fully meet the requirements of the company’s Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SMS & EMS).

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
As an Embedded Software Engineer / Systems Designer you will have experience:
• Degree (or equivalent qualification/experience) in maths/science/software/electronics
• Engineering experience in Embedded hardware and software design
• Strong Embedded C/C++, Firmware, MISRA C, H8 and Microprocessors 8/16/32 bit
• Strong Embedded firmware experience including cross platform development experience
• Knowledge of configuration and change control systems such as Mantis, Subversion and MS VSS Would be an advantage
• Knowledge of low level serial protocols (I2C/SPI) and embedded unit test suites such as LDRA
• Good understanding of Embedded system design (hardware and software) and debug techniques
• Background within Defence sector or Nuclear industry would be an advantage but not essential, ability to gain security clearance is a must for this role.
