The Company:
A luxury Automotive OEM based in the West Midlands. After continued growth & success there are a number of new exciting engineering projects underway and we currently have requirements for experienced engineering professionals.

The Role:
To manage & control engine performance development & durability testing.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
NVH integration activities on new V8 and V12 engine, multiple transmission options and new platforms with experience of NVH development in the one or many of the following NVH sub-attribute areas:
• Structure-borne Road Noise and Vibration Reduction:
o Multi-reference transfer path;
o Principal component and modal analysis;
o Chassis component and system optimisation;
o Point and body dynamic stiffness optimisation.
• Powertrain Noise and Vibration Reduction:
o Base engine design;
o Transmission, Clutch and Driveline design;
o Powertrain mount tuning; Bracket stiffness development;
o Single-reference transfer path and running mode analysis;
o Intake, exhaust, PAS, Cooling, HVAC and ancillary isolation;
o Pass-by exterior noise mitigation.
• Sound Character Enhancement:
o Intake and Exhaust contribution optimisation, normally aspirated and pressure-charged power-units with multiple driving mode differentiation.
• Interior Engine and Road Noise Reduction:
o Structure-borne:
• Panel Contribution Analysis;
• Panel Treatment Optimisation.
o Airborne:
• Engine bay / Firewall acoustic transfer optimisation;
• Tyre noise acoustic transfer optimisation;
• Intake and Exhaust acoustic transfer optimisation.
o Exterior Engine and Road Noise Reduction:
• Pass-by acoustic transfer optimisation.
The post holder will undertake other duties as may be required to achieve the Company’s objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential: The candidate should be degree qualified, preferably with NVH content. A good understanding of design guidelines for NVH mitigation; test, development, and verification requirements in one of the NVH sub-attributes (powertrain, body, chassis, aeroacoustic, acoustic package). Delivery of NVH full vehicle solutions from benchmarking, targets setting through development and verification. Deliver optimum engineering solutions with successful and timely resolution of issues. Plan and manage internal and external test facility and resource. Follow our Clients Programme Control System (AMPC) process and ensure all required information and actions are completed within requested time. Experience of working in NVH test environment. Subjective evaluation of vehicle attributes. Ability to process, analysis and report test data. Knowledge of LMS Test.Lab, HEAD ArtemiS, or GFaI Acoustic Camera Noise Image. Desired: Knowledge of state of the art NVH development techniques including latest hardware and software development tools. Ability to deliver a cross platform road noise, powertrain, or acoustic package integration strategy. Good knowledge and mentality on problem solving process (e.g. 8D, 6 sigma). Knowledge on AMPCS or equivalent product creation process (GPDS, FPDS). Competent in all Microsoft Office toolset. Ability to work additional hours to get the job done, either during the week or weekends. Drive permit from OEM’s or equivalent is desirable.
